Complaint Regarding Alden Nursing Facility

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the treatment my loved one received at Alden Nursing Facility. What we experienced was far from the quality of care any family should expect when entrusting a facility with the wellbeing of someone they love.

During his stay, it became painfully clear that the staff’s priorities were misplaced. Instead of focusing on his health, comfort, and dignity, they seemed more concerned with financial matters than providing proper care. As a result, his health declined under their supervision; something that should never happen in a place meant to support and protect vulnerable individuals.

The conditions of the rooms and common areas were unacceptable. The facility was consistently dirty, poorly maintained, and far below the standards of a professional healthcare environment. Cleanliness is a basic requirement in any care setting, and Alden failed to meet even that.

Equally troubling was the staff’s attitude. Many displayed a lack of professionalism, compassion, and respect. Families should not have to fight to be heard or worry that their loved ones are being mistreated due to negligence or indifference.

No family should have to experience this. I am sharing this to hold Alden Nursing Facility accountable and to warn others who may be considering placing their loved ones in their care. Our love ones deserve better...dignity, safety, and genuine care should always come first.

Signed Action is Needed!!!

I visit my uncle every weekend and every wknd the problem is the same. They just have him lying in bed. I always go by 10am which gives them enough time to do they morning hygiene care however he is NEVER clean . He has a tracheotomy and his gown is always saturated with mucus. One morning he was lying with feces on him. Every time I go I have to ask the to clean him up. The male CNA that they previous had caring for him has no compassion, he’s very heavy handed and unorganized. I have had to request them to suction him and change his trach. The facility is short on diapers and towels. They continue to lose his blankets. He can’t speak or move on his own. It’s like they just leave them lying in bed all day. If I had my way he wouldn’t be there. I don’t live in Chicago so I can’t come daily but if I could I definitely would because it seems that he only gets the proper care on days that I come. I have not once been able to visit him and find him clean when I arrived. That one star is for the staff always being friendly and getting right to it when I ask them to clean him up HOWEVER I shouldn’t have to ask. I feel like he’s being neglected. If your heart isn’t in it to care for ppl don’t apply for the job. I am a home health aide and no way will I ever leave my clients in those conditions.

Everything these people post on their Facebook page is a sideshow. They don't care about the patients and they neglect them and hit them. My mother was in this nursing home and I believe different staff members were hitting her. She was terrified of the staff when my family members would ask her if they were treating her well she would get very scared and nervous and she would say that they were treating her good. She had a black eye once. She got an infection in her blood because they weren't checking on her. I believe they just legally drug all the patients with drugs to keep them sleeping often. I remember I called once so this nurse can change my moms diaper because my mom called me to tell me if I can call a nurse to change her diaper. The nurse told me that the person I was asking for wasn't there right now and I told her I wasn't calling about any nurse I was calling because my mom needed a diaper chance so can she or someone go change her diaper please. She sure didn't like my tone and she had put me on hold at first for like 5 minutes while she was having a conversation with someone. There's no telephones in the patients rooms or a button they can press if the patients need help. These ppl have no compassion for the elderly and there's also a lot of lawsuits against them. My mother was taken to the ER from here and the hospital put her in hospice and she passed away in 2023. She was a loving mother grandmother sister. She had a light in her and they broke her. Everytime I would visit her she wouldn't talk anymore. People if you can take care of your family at home do it you can get paid for it. Don't let evil people take care of your family. And just to let everyone know statins cause dementia. I feel really bad for the elderly in these nursing homes they are already sick and then they get put in these nursing homes where they get mistreated. This is not healcare its sick care. I hope everyone that mistreated my mother there gets their karma. You cannot do evil things and get away with it.
