Alden Estates of Barrington<br>Late Tuesday afternoon I was moved to Alden Estates of Barrington. Online it looks great. In person it is different. I have yet to meet anyone from management.<br>I met my nurse, Josh, and a couple of the staff. One is the cleaning lady. She brought me dinner: Coffee, a cold beef sandwich with slices of onion and green pepper, tatter tots (cold), some weak lemonade and a fruit cup with compressed whipped cream. Onions are on my eat sparingly list. The tater tots have a bread crust that I am to avoid. I ate enough to get to breakfast.<br>My roommate moans, usually very loud. It is 5 to 10 minutes in between. Based on his visitor, he is Hispanic.<br>I was tested for blood sugar, 433, about 6:15. and have been waiting for over an hour for the insulin. I have no idea when I will receive my evening and night medicines. There is no call button, Josh connected it about 12:30) and I was told not to use the walker without someone aiding me. Josh just came in with the insulin (7:45). He said that they have not worked on medicine yet. No concern that one I need prior to eating my dinner. At 7:50 they told me the medicine was coming from the hospital. I had one pill around midnight. I think it was Eliquis.<br>Just before 10 PM, I called Nancy Leedstrom, the lady that started the transfer. I told her most of my concerns. There was little she could do until the morning.<br>I froze all night. The thermostat shows the temperature is 65. I was so cold at breakfast that the oxygen meter would not register. The one in my room has yet to work.<br>For breakfast, I was wheelchaired to the dining room. Standard meal was oatmeal, very dry scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, asked for herbal tea, received black tea in warm water, apple juice. I ate some of the eggs and biscuits and apple juice. Since then, they said I would see the nutritionist, but for now the diet would not change. Later they said maybe after lunch.<br>They wheeled me to therapy. My breathing was so rapid, they brought me back to my room. I needed two hot packs to warm my hand to get the oxygen meter to register. I am now at 98 to 100%.<br>Nancy Leedstrom came in to follow up on last night’s phone call. She is working on getting me a different room, a lunch that is better for me, the nutrition person for after lunch. A few more came into the room. I knew I was having a mild anxiety attack and asked for medicine. They told me I needed to wait for the doctor to agree. Lunch came and it looked good. As I started to eat, I was breathing too heavy. Called Nancy to ask her to send me back to the hospital. Arrangements have been made to go via ambulance to Sherman Hospital. After being told that I would have transportation, no from Alden spoke one word to me and looked the other way as I was taken from the building.<br>I was in pain in the ambulance, near rectum, stomach and chest. The transport went to emergency mode.

As care facilities go, this facility is clean etc however very lacking at any kind of followup or follow through. We have been asking for required letters for Medicaid purposes for weeks now. We have also been trying to get needed specialist care for months now. We have asked for medical updates on a more regulate basis. None of the above have been provided. There have been several instances of procedures gone wrong- reported to me by the resident - yet no reports of these incidents appear in any staff, CNA, nurse practitioner or social services notes. We ask and ask and the answer is " we will get back to you" and that just never happens. I guess I'm going to have to start calling every day so we are not forgotten about. I'm about to send a letter to the admins and if I can find a corporate email- I'll send one there as well. The resident is currently on private pay pending Medicaide so maybe this is designed to keep the bigger money flowing in? Who can say.
