There was a consistent lack of professionalism, poor communication, and little regard for both staff and clients. Leadership is disorganized, which directly impacted daily operations and the quality of care being provided. Turnover is high, morale was low, no support or accountability from management. I would not recommend this company to families seeking reliable care or to professionals looking for a supportive, ethical workplace. There are far better home care agencies that value transparency, structure, and respect.

I truly want to acknowledge the caregivers and branch-level employees who work tirelessly every single day to ensure client satisfaction and quality care. They are the backbone of this company, yet they receive little to no appreciation or recognition from corporate leadership for the work that keeps each branch running. Unfortunately, my experience with this organization’s corporate policies and leadership has been extremely disappointing. Corporate policies are constantly changing, often without consistency or clear communication. While leadership claims to use employee surveys to improve the employee experience and retention, those efforts feel performative at best, with no meaningful action or follow-through. When employees freely offer honest feedback — whether while actively employed or after leaving the company — their input is routinely dismissed rather than valued. There are clear opportunities to lighten employee workloads and improve overall care, such as replacing an inefficient on-call system with a professional answering service, yet these ideas are ignored. Corporate presence is minimal, typically showing up quarterly for a couple of days before disappearing again, with little sustained engagement or understanding of daily branch operations. It’s important to note that there are other in-home care companies that operate with far more effective, structured systems — systems designed to ensure that caregivers, staff, clients, and families are supported and satisfied at every level. Unfortunately, this company falls short of that standard. To clients and families considering this company: please take the time to research what the true “Gold Standard” in in-home care looks like and choose accordingly. While the caregivers themselves are compassionate and committed, they are doing their very best under the heavy and often demoralizing umbrella of corporate leadership. They never could respond to an exit email that was sent so maybe this will grab their attention.

Update: So my caretaker called out a few times for Dr appointments. Then all of a sudden she tells me she's pregnant. But due to underlying health issues, she's high risk, and needs a less stressful job. She's already got a new job that she's starting on the following Monday (Dr appointments? I don't think so!), this is Monday just before Christmas that we're talking. She asks if she can take Christmas off but still claim that she worked it. I told her no, that she needed to call out sick if she couldn't work. So the whole last week she was supposed to work for me, she called in sick and then quit with no notice. The agency replaced her within a day or two. The next lady quits the second day. Due to an issue with "weapons" in my home (I live in a bad neighborhood, my son and I are both concealed carry licensed. We had gone to the store with the caretaker and come home. He unholstered his firearm, placed it on the table, took off his belt, and then carried his firearm into the bedroom, never pointing it at anyone. The caretaker reported this to the agency as an unsafe environment.)and they discontinued my care that afternoon with no notice. They knew I had the firearms in the home. I had had discussions with the administrator (not going to name names) and was told it was fine. Only to get dropped with no notice, over the phone. And then received a certified letter a month later. To be fair, the administrator was very apologetic. And very nice about it. But getting another caretaker has been a nightmare. I am a consumer with Affordable At Home Care Salem. Amber quickly arranged an in-home consultation to assess my needs. This was so that she could match me with the best possible caretaker. She matched me with Jamila. She comes out four days a week. She is timely, dependable, thoughtful, organized, caring, and always checks with me to make sure I'm happy with what she's doing. I'm so happy with Jamila and the way she cares for me and my home. But I'm also very happy with the way Amber expresses her Care and concern for me and my Home as well. I can't say enough positive things for these two ladies!

The office staff look out for their employees and ensure they are well taken care of. The energy that the office staff have is infectious and can't help but smile!
