A couple of nurses that have been sent out to us were great but the management and administrative team are very difficult to work with. We recently had an insurance change and unfortunately, they couldn't cover home health services. My husband is currently in a wound vac and more importantly has an active TICC line in place that needs to be managed weekly. I would have happily paid out of pocket to continue with them but they don't accept private pay and just cut us off with zero options. Their best option was to a call a senior living home for a 30 something year old man. It's a joke.

Does Medicare cover care from Advantage Home Health?

Yes. Advantage Home Health is a Medicare-certified home health agency, so Medicare Part A or Part B pays in full for skilled nursing, therapy and home health aide visits when a doctor orders them and the patient is homebound. There is no copay for covered home health visits. Medicare rates the agency's quality of patient care 3.0 out of 5 stars.

Do I need a referral to use Advantage Home Health?

For Medicare to pay, yes: a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant must certify that care is needed and sign a plan of care. Families can call the agency first, and the agency will usually contact the doctor to arrange the order. Ongoing help with bathing, meals and companionship is a different service, non-medical home care, which needs no referral.
