Food was terrible, my goal was to get stronger and healthier and we got crap food like corn dog and chili dog. Nurses and physical therapy were great. Social worker and bill payment lady ( Jenny) were horrible

My mother was in this facility for about 10 months after being diagnosed with dementia. There was a very small handful of CNAs and two nurses that were amazing with her. And for those individuals, I am grateful. She couldn't get around very well and was prone to falling due to instability on her feet. While I acknowledge and understand that eyes can't be on any one individual 24/7, certain measures that should have been followed, weren't. For example: her walker came up missing despite her name being on it and when they finally decided to bite the bullet and replace it themselves, it magically reappeared. She had a tendency to strip her bed, which was fine (rummaging and "busy work" is a normal thing for dementia patients) but would subsequently throw her bedding on the floor where it stayed while staff didn't notice, thus risking her taking a fall. She wasn't toileted routinely and was found to have fecal matter smeared up her back as a result. She also had 2 UTIs in 3 months, the second of which she was hospitalized for, along with covid. When she returned from the hospital, her bedding in her room hadn't even been changed and she was out for a week. She also wasn't showered and changed routinely; I visited her on a Wednesday evening and noticed she had a smear from where she had dropped food on her shirt from a meal previously that day. On Friday, I visited again and she was wearing the same shirt, and pants, from 2 days prior, with the same mess on the shirt. They even removed her wander guard from her wheelchair and gave it to a resident that had just arrived because she was "less of a risk right now." Upon arriving one evening to visit, she was slumped over in her wheelchair, asleep, right on the outside of the nurse's station. The nurse on duty either didn't know or didn't care that she was slumped over so far forward that she was about to fall out of her chair. I had to wake Mom up and I helped her to bed. When I said something to the nurse on duty, he genuinely acted like he had better things to concern himself with. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I have a great deal of respect, and empathy, for caregivers. It isn't an easy task. But, the work ethic shown by most of the staff here was laughable. They showed up and collected a paycheck and that's it. I filed a complaint with the state and nothing came of it. If I could give negative stars, I would. I am empathetic to Healthcare staffing shortages and the like, but, that doesn't translate to any resident receiving less than the bare minimum in care. I do not recommend this place. I've figured out that it must be great for rehab purposes but, if you're looking for LTC, bypass this altogether.
