My mom lived in the Village Independent Living at Abernethy Laurels for 5 years, and our experience was outstanding from start to finish. As her needs increased, we began using their in-home care services, and I can’t say enough about how wonderful the entire team was. Alex, the Director of Home Care, along with Carolina, Latoya, Stephanie, Lynette, and the rest of the homecare staff, were exceptional. They were reliable, compassionate, and consistently responsive—especially during urgent situations when quick action was so important. I will eternally be grateful for the care they provided to my mom. The maintenance staff was also fantastic. Anytime there was an issue with my mom’s apartment, they responded promptly and took care of things quickly. The clinic staff, especially Jody and Donita, were another huge help. They always treated my mom with patience and kindness, which was a true testament to how they care for their residents. When the time came for me to move my mom to an assisted living community in Tennessee so she could be closer to me, the discharge process was handled beautifully. Lisa, Shaylyn, and the entire transition team made a difficult change feel smooth and manageable. Their organization and empathy to my situation made all the difference. Abernethy Laurels truly cared about my mom and supported us every step of the way. I’m grateful for the dedication of everyone we encountered and would highly recommend this community to any family looking for compassionate, dependable care.

If your loved one needs real medical care or attention, I’d seriously look somewhere else. This place might seem great at first—nice tour, clean rooms, well-kept grounds, and decent food—but that’s all surface-level. When it comes to actual care, they fall short. You can spend months asking for help, but the folks in charge will just keep brushing you off. The head nurse doesn’t use email, won’t answer her phone, and doesn’t even have voicemail. If you catch her in the hallway, she’s always rushing off somewhere. Staff can’t do much without her say-so, and the ones who really need help—especially those who can’t speak up—end up suffering. Problems get ignored and just keep getting worse. Try talking to the administrator and you’ll get snapped at. There are better places out there with higher standards and people who actually care. Don’t settle for this one, because if your loved one gets sick or hurt, you’ll be stuck watching them suffer while they keep collecting checks.

Both of my parents spent their last years at Abernathy Laurels. My Dad was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and when my Mom was no longer able to care for him she was forced to find full skill nursing for him. The facility was clean and accommodating .The level of care he received was always excellent. I have to say I was very impressed. When the time came for my Mom to leave her home and go to skilled nursing she wanted to go to Abernathy Laurels because she knew she would receive quality care. My Mom passed away four weeks ago and I was humbled at the amount of nurses, CNA’s and other staff members that came to say good-bye to her. At Abernathy Laurels your loved ones become family. I cannot emphasize the level of care and compassion both of my parents received during their time at Abernathy Laurels.

My husband & I were at Abernethy Laurels on 3 different occasions for rehabilitation after surgery. I wouldn’t want to go any place else for rehab services. Physical & occupational therapy were excellent, working with us to get us ready to transition to home care. Nursing care was excellent as well. They were quick to answer the call light & get what was needed. There was not a single person who wasn’t great at their job. The staff is always friendly. I’d like to name names but I would surely leave someone out. I’ll just thank Lisa Union for giving us a bed so we could have such a good experience. Facility was impeccably clean. Pet friendly.
