We went to respite care for 5 days at the Craig. We got no rest at all. From the beginning they messed up & we were supposed to be in a private room & we ended up with an obnoxious roommate who had Fox News cranked up all night. The next afternoon we were moved. Things went sour when after 3 days, my husband became very ill. He's on hospice care. They refused to give him one of his meds so he went into withdrawals. That night, he knocked over his tray table at 12:30 am. Yes, I was there. Asked for a mop. Nurse said no housekeeping after 5. Went looking for help. Asked another nurse for a mop. She said she'd bring me one. Never showed up. I personally got towels from a cabinet & cleaned up the flood. OK, here's where it goes from bad to terrible. Time to check out. Nurse had come with morning meds. She came back & said she had 1 more pill for him. Said it was a new one. I said, he's on hospice. Shouldn't have any new meds. She gave him one & put the bottle in his basket & we left. Got home & he couldn't function. Fell in the bedroom. By the late afternoon he was catatonic. Unable to move, speak, see or hear. I called BSA Hospice. They came right over and called AMS for lift assist as he was dead weight & we were afraid to move him. My son decided to see what the new medicine was & when he looked at the bottle he didn't recognize the med. Do you know WHY? Because the nurse gave my husband someone else's medicine!!! A sedative/ muscle relaxer made for severe pain. So someone else didn't get their pills & were probably in pain all day. I'm not just mad. He could have & I believe almost died. Don't go here! I don't care if they made the Amarillo Best of Best list. This is negligence at the highest level!
