I have had a very positive experience with this Visiting Angels team. Marnie (as well as Tara before her) are a delight to work with and very responsive, efficient and knowledgeable. Caregiver shoutout to Kellie, Dahntaye and Andrew for their loving care for my husband. Kellie was with us for a year as his sole caregiver and became like one of the family. She was so good and patient with him and always went the “extra mile” to work through all changes and situations. Dahntaye and Andrew are both reliable, kind and proficient caregivers, willing and able to handle any of the challenges that arise with my husband’s needs and care. Their physical strength and calming demeanors are exactly what we have needed this year! I appreciate and thank each of the caregivers, management and staff I have worked with.

I was able to keep my grandma in her apartment much longer with the help of Visiting Angels. The nurses that came out to see her were both compassionate and knowledgeable. Scheduling made sure to respect my grandma’s preferences about shift times and caregivers. VA communicated promptly if something came up and were always able to fill open shifts for my grandma, although finding coverage for short gaps (~1-2 hours) was difficult. Any caregiver subbing in did a pretty good job at helping my grandma, though it was really her consistent caregivers that made a big difference in her day to day. They built strong relationships with her and truly cared about her as a person, not just as a client. It’s important to note there are certain things caregivers can NOT do such as medication administration (can give reminders) and nail clipping (can file and paint). If you are concerned about constipation it may be helpful to have a whiteboard/notepad in the bathroom to track BMs because caregivers weren’t always aware when my grandma was backed up. I also found it helpful to write misc notes (on the fridge, light switches, etc) for the caregivers because there were a few times where lights weren’t turned off at the end of the night for example. They’re human, things like that may happen. Family communication with VA makes a difference in the caregivers success, as being in someone’s home is a very personal thing and there’s sometimes a lot to know. Management takes concerns seriously, and are professional and compassionate. It may take time for some caregivers to get into a good routine but every caregiver I met was very kind and prioritized safety.
