Dad's been at Victoria Court for about six weeks and so far it's been rough for him having never lived by himself, like ever. But not for lack of trying on the staff's part, they are very observant and knowledgeable about their residents specific strengths/ weaknesses. That is appreciated. With little exception, it's been smooth as can be expected.

My grandmother lives here and she enjoys interacting with the team of people who make this such a special place. Everyone shows kindness, patience and genuine respect. She looks forward to the daily activities and the visits to the in-house hair salon!<br>Victoria Court definitely offers a home-like experience that I can't say enough about. They are clearly committed to making it a wonderful place to live and feel safe.

My mom has been at Victoria Court for over two years now. I have been very pleased with the care she has received. Her studio apartment is very nice, the common facilities are all very clean and cheerful and she feels safe there. The environment provides the support she needs while her memory betrays her. The staff are very warm and loving. I am happy we found Victoria Court!

I can’t say enough positive things about the care, compassion, and sense of community my sister experiences here. Memory care is about so much more than simply meeting someone’s daily needs — it’s about treating each resident with dignity, kindness, patience, and genuine affection. That is what I see consistently from this team.<br><br>Sam, who manages sales, is also such a consistent and positive presence throughout the building. He is always willing to answer questions, solve problems, and help wherever needed. His attention to detail, responsiveness, and can-do attitude make a tremendous difference, not only for residents but for their families as well.<br><br>Ashley and Nelly are truly exceptional CNAs. They manage my sister’s care with tremendous compassion, kindness, patience, and wit. They know how to connect with her, and they elicit smiles and laughter from her like very few people can. As a family member, there is nothing more reassuring than seeing people genuinely understand and care about the person behind the diagnosis.<br><br>Shirley and Ida, the med techs, are also wonderful. They don’t simply administer medications and move on — they interact with my sister and the other residents, talk with them, laugh with them, and help create a warm, engaging environment. Those everyday interactions are so important in memory care.<br><br>Maria, my sister’s housekeeper, deserves special recognition as well. She is incredibly kind and patient and pays attention to all of the little details that make an apartment feel clean, comfortable, and cared for. Those details may seem small, but they make an enormous difference in someone’s quality of life.<br><br>Anna at the front desk is another wonderful part of the community. She truly wants to help, remembers everyone’s names, and does everything she can to keep things running smoothly. She makes residents and families feel known and welcomed from the moment they walk through the door.<br><br>And at the helm, Rhoda and Sue are steering the ship with care. They are responsive, approachable, engaged, and clearly committed to both the residents and their families.<br><br>When someone you love needs memory care, you are placing an enormous amount of trust in the people caring for them. I am deeply grateful for the individuals here who know my sister, engage with her, make her smile, and treat her with genuine kindness. It gives our family tremendous peace of mind knowing she is surrounded by people who truly care.

My mother has dementia and has been living at Victoria Court for just over a year now. In that year, I've come to understand a lot about the disease and its effects.<br>Most likely, your loved one is not going to want to move out of their home. And you are going to feel like you betrayed them. (This is how I felt).<br>And you will witness the struggles they will go through in adjusting to a new environment. And you will learn that they will have "triggers." Triggers make them feel unhappy and it is different for each person.<br>For my mother, one of her triggers was simply seeing the front door. It would suddenly remind her that she wasn't at her home. She would become quite agitated. But the great staff knows what they are doing. The front door is within view when going to and from the dining room. So, after lunch, to direct her gaze away from the front door, the staff would simply talk and walk with my mother while guiding her directly to the elevator to bring her down to the activity room. It always works.<br>So, I can tell you now: if you are finding yourself between a rock and a hard place like I was -- that is, 1) keeping your loved one in their home that they love but is dangerous for them to live because the cognitive decline is really bad and there are no relatives who can legitimately care for them full time, or 2) putting them in a Memory Care home where they won't know anybody and which may make them even more confused --- I say take them to Victoria Court where the staff knows how to handle issues that arise due to memory decline, where your loved one is safe because people are around all throughout the day (and night!) where they are fed three meals a day plus snacks, where they are regularly bathed, and medicines administered on time and in the correct doses, where their apartments are cleaned and clothes washed regularly, and where staff encourage them to join in the many activities.<br>Throughout the journey, Victoria Court staff will ease your fears. They will remind you of what the disease does. They will pay close attention to your loved one so they can learn their triggers. They will redirect when necessary or leave them to have quiet time when needed or requested.<br>For my mother, she has had good days and bad days. But I am relieved to say that the good days now outweigh the bad. She is more content. The staff really knows her and understands her. She likes to spend time in her apartment (which is very cute, by the way!) but she comes out to participate in activities when she feels like it. She likes to dance when encouraged.<br>Understand that adjustment takes time. Take your loved one to Victoria Court. The staff there will go through the adjustment with them, no matter how long it takes.
