Do not recommend this facility. My grandma with dementia was not treated with proper care, and our family was not spoken to with the respect that was deserved. Individuals who decide to work in this field should be emotionally equipped to work closely with residents and family members, and I did not see that practiced here.

They do not deserve even 1 star! I am usually not the complaining type and I try really hard not to speak negatively about others, but to stay quiet when it comes to Traditions in Mt. Vernon is dangerous for their current residents, and I’m not being overly dramatic. Our mother who has dementia was extremely agitated and the staff was aware. She was allowed to go outside on her own due to living in assisted living, but when someone with dementia is really upset and goes outside it is common sense to either not let them go alone or at the very least keep an eye on them. Mom ended up being picked up by strangers as far as we know and dropped off at the ER. Traditions was not even aware she was gone from their property until the hospital called them! I can think of maybe 4 people that work there that truly care about the residents, the remainder of the employees and administrative staff should not be in the positions they are in, at least not in a facility that is SUPPOSED TO take care of the elderly. This facility is not trustworthy, we have been lied to multiple times, and we have asked for documentation multiple times without receiving everything we asked for. Besides a few employees, the staff does not truly care for the residents. Worst of all they are negligent and the residents are not safe. Please DO NOT send your loved ones to live there!

Do not send your loved one here. We moved our mom in last August. No real concerns then, however over the course of one year, they have had a complete turnover on staff. They’re on their 3rd director in 12 months, and all new staff. Only one of the nurses was kind to our mom who has dementia. and she showed compassion for her. If you’re going to work at an assisted living facility, you should enjoy helping seniors, not be annoyed by them. So, in early July, our mom ventured out of the building due to being upset. She was attempting to walk to the hospital. Two people saw my 82 year old mom walking on a cane and drove her to the hospital. Traditions had no idea she had even left the building until they got a call from the ER! That’s because there is never anyone around. The hallways are always empty and often you can’t find a nurse. Due to a new med my mom had only been on for a few weeks, she was having delusions and hallucinations. The ER transferred her to a psychiatric hospital in Columbus. That place was a joke too, but back to Traditions. The director of nursing went to assess mom 2 days prior to discharge in Columbus and she said she was not fit to return. She and the director notified my sister and I a mere 16 hours prior to discharge that our mom could not return to her home. They also had no empathy for her cat which she has had for 13 years. We had to get the Department of Health involved to advocate for our mom. Especially since they lied to us on more than one occasion and did not follow the law as far as eviction goes! They finally agreed to let her come back only if she had someone with her 24/7. Well, we had some people come in for the first week and she was doing so much better. The med said finally gotten out of our system. It’s very expensive to have 24/7 care, so we asked Traditions to reevaluate our mom so she could be released from one-to-one care they refused to do so. They wouldn’t even give us a reason why,<br>they just said no. Well, thanks thanks to them and it taking us a while to find another place for her, we ended up spending thousands and thousands of dollars for one to one care.Thankfully, we found an amazing new place for her where everyone is so patient and kind with our mom! So glad we got her out of Traditions. I think it was a blessing in disguise!

The staff has done a fabulous job at trying to appease my father in the memory care unit. He is very paranoid and suspicious of everyone! They have been very patient with him and have gone out of their way to accommodate his requests while still making sure, to the best of their ability, that he is getting his medications and the best care possible!<br><br>They have done a wonderful job communicating any issues that my father may have. They have also answered any questions I may have and put my mind at ease that I made the right choice in his care and he is in the right place and where he needs to be.
