The Ridge an Encore Community

This is not a healthy place. One fact to keep in mind as you read reviews is that in the fall of 2023 Aidan Health Services took over management of several Encore Communities, including The Ridge. Also, several employees of The Ridge, including management staff, have posted 5 star reviews on Google. It's pathetic that they feel the need to do that in order to bump up their rating. When my brother and I decided to move our mother here she was borderline able to stay in an assisted living facility. We thought she would get better care at The Ridge. Were we ever wrong about that! 5 weeks after moving in she died due to "Failure to Thrive". Yes, that is stated on her Death Certificate. During the 48 hours I spent at my mothers' bedside I met two caregivers who seemed genuinely kind, caring, compassionate and competent. Some caregivers were just there to do a job and I had the unpleasant experience of witnessing one hurting my mom while he changed her brief. He didn't care, he just wanted to get it done. The management staff is young and seems more focussed on their own well-being rather than that of the very vulnerable people who live there. Several times I did not get the courtesy of a reply to an email. In particular, the General Manager, Taylor Burns (she is one that wrote a 5 star review), is far too young and not nearly experienced enough to run a facility such as The Ridge. She seems full of her own self-importance. The staff managed to lose one of my mom's very personal and prized possessions. The staff would joke and laugh about the residents taking things from other rooms. Taylor gave us a lot of lip service about trying to find it and then shed a crocodile tear when she told us it was not found. It caused me to question every aspect of the care my mother received while she was there. They know the residents are unable to advocate for themselves. And unless you have someone there with them 24-7, you'll never know the full story.Think twice before you send your loved one there. They seem nice and caring when you meet them, but once you're gone, things will happen that you'll never know about. They don't care enough.

In the past year and a half I have attended many events at the Ridge. I have been so impressed with all the caregivers the lead staff activities director Tracy, head nurse Elana who makes sure that everyone is cared for and feels loved. I look forward for attending many more events in the future.

Highly recommend the Ridge! A warm and welcoming environment with caring and dedicated staff. If you have a family member who is in need of specialized memory care, as I have had, I wouldn’t look any further. What my family appreciated most was the personalized touch from Taylor. It is a very stressful experience to have a loved one go through memory decline, but to know that they were well cared for made all the difference in the world. I know my family absolutely appreciated Taylor’s diligence in making sure my grandma was taken care of and loved each and every day. She was always available to talk and answer questions and support us through the process. Thank you again!

We moved my mom to The Ridge several months ago after seeing the care my father-in-law received from the staff. It is truly the best! The management team is exceptional, setting high expectations for the care the residents receive and they are there participating in events and activities. They are also very responsive. The activities director is amazing and continually looks for new and exciting things to do with the residents to engage them and make them feel important. The care staff take great care of my mom. All the staff look and act professional. At The Ridge, my mom is truly treated with respect and kindness.

Since the diagnosis of Alzheimer's my mother has been in three facilities of care so my review of The Ridge in Silverdale is based on six years of experience with each facility in an up close and personal fashion. Before our moving to Washington two years ago my mother resided at two care facilities in southern California both of which were exceptional but for our money and based again on our experiences, The Ridge is in my opinion the benchmark for excellence. From the Executive Director to the Office Manager to the Enrichment Director, assistant Enrichment Director, nurses, cooks and nurse assistants, the staff are trained, educated, experienced and above all else, possessing a sense of commitment to their duties which are performed in a professional and warm fashion. The Ridge treats my mother like a member of the staff and thus she is especially happy and settled despite the heartbreaking consequences of her illness. My mother grew up in post World War II Germany but traveled the world so she's always been a free spirit. She worked as a personal assistant by day and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris by night and was always a ball of fire wherever she went. The Ridge celebrates and respects her exceptional personal history in addition to her humorous personality, this explains her calm and easy manner when I visit with her. I strongly endorse The Ridge and if you have a loved one in need of a warm and professional environment then I strongly suggest you speak with the team as I've come to know them. If you're still on fence ask the staff at The Ridge to forward my contact info as I would be more than willing to discuss the details further with anyone serious about caring for their relations.
