Placing my husband in memory care was one of the hardest and most heart wrenching decisions I have ever had to make. I honestly hated all the institutional facilities I visited. I just could not see my husband thriving in such a setting, and the costs were-well-stupid expensive with add-ons for everything and anything. And then thanks to an angel I was referred to The Ranch ALF. I knew within a minute of meeting Melissa that if my husband could not be home, this was where he needed to be. That’s because this is a home not an institution. Melissa and her staff treat each resident in this small community as part of their family. There were times when my husband would barely interact with me, yet I could hear him talking to and laughing with the staff and other residents. I knew he was in good, caring, protective hands. The on-site medical care was exceptional and I appreciated the fact that the staff were long-time employees and there was a very high staff to resident ratio as compared to corporate run facilities. Sadly, my husband has passed away, but I know that the last several months of his life were spent in an exceptional home-like setting where he was treated with kindness, compassion, and dignity. I highly recommend Melissa Bongart and The Ranch AFL for anyone seeking a memory care home for a loved one.
