The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence, Russell

The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer's Center of Excellence is a memory care community in Russell, Kentucky, offering specialized care for residents with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. The single-story, home-like facility provides licensed nursing care around the clock and serves Greenup County and the Tri-State region near the Ohio River.

The community employs staff trained in the Best Friends™ approach, which honors each resident's life story, and the Teepa Snow Positive Approach to Care™, a skill-based dementia training method. The Meaningful Day™ program and restaurant-style dining by the culinary team, featuring locally sourced farm-fresh food, are designed to keep each day personal and purposeful. The facility accommodates specialized dietary needs including no-salt-added and reduced-concentrated-sweets diets.

Memory care apartments feature open and spacious designs with paint colors chosen to promote peace and calm. Residents are issued 24-hour emergency pendants, and each apartment can be personalized with residents' belongings to create a home-like environment. The community serves residents in early to moderately severe stages of Alzheimer's, focusing on individual interests, life experiences, and personal strengths.

Daily life enrichment programs include intergenerational programming with local schools and colleges, exercise programs, activities, entertainment, and group outings. Personal care services such as grooming assistance and bathing are available, along with transportation to appointments and medication management by licensed nurses.
