I am a physician and can recommend Brookdale West County wholeheartedly for its memory care division. I am very pleased with the nursing attentiveness for all three shifts, the housekeeping staff is likewise stellar as well as the maintenance staff. The Executive Director and Director of Nursing command service excellence and consistent quality. The maintenance department is extremely responsive to minor issues and are always there with a friendly smile and demeanor.<br>The activities director is very patient, encouraging, creative and similarly, a consistent smile on her face. Oh, I can not forget the quality of nutritious food and the flavors! Director of Dining always onsite everyday as well.<br>The nursing staff are very capable at multi tasking, (dispensing meds, toileting, bathing, feeding, conversationalists,etc) they do it all. They have such a demanding profession, yet they go to work everyday pleasant, proficient and performing above the standard bar.<br><br>Elaine Allgood, MD

My father did not receive all of his medication properly, because the last few times he was sent out to the hospital or other places the wrong med list was sent. There were issues with the nurse for the memory care not having his proper allotment of medication when my mother arrived at times! The head nurse the executive director and memory care nurse did not know what a PRN was or when to administer or how to comment on a PRN. The executive director (Jenny Hilliard), Head Nurse (Laura), and Memory Care Nurse (Ellen) have all demonstrated either lying, incompetence, and/or ineptitude at their job numerous times! If you are looking for a place to have your loved cared for poorly, then this is the place for your loved one!

I wouldn’t recommend Brookdale to be honest. We put our loved one in the Assisted Living side at the end of last year and since we have been there the DON has been unresponsive, not cooperative, rude, even to our loved one’s physicians. One of the physicians nurses informed us she’s never been spoken to as bad as the DON has spoken to her. There are pros and cons of Brookdale, but we believe the cons definitely outweigh the pros and if we had to do it over we wouldn’t have chosen Brookdale.

Great facility - highly recommend. They foster a close knit community and it’s apparent the staff genuinely care about and get to know the residents. We never worried about our father during his stay because we knew he was safe, well taken care of and happy.
