I removed my mother from this facility within one week because of the shocking neglect and incompetence I witnessed. She was admitted because she has brain cancer and cannot care for herself — I am her Power of Attorney. Within days, I noticed she was not acting like herself at all. She was so heavily sedated she could barely move, couldn’t speak, and had to use hand gestures to communicate. I later learned they had her on sedation medication that was supposed to be given only as needed (towards end of life), not around the clock. When I told them to stop the sedatives, they instead removed her scheduled pain medication — but left the sedation meds in place! Things got so bad that a hospice worker called me to say my mom might die within a few days. Had I left her there, I truly believe she would have — she was so drugged she couldn’t eat or drink, and no one was helping her so I removed her from their care and brought to the hospital and within 16 hours she was able to speak in full sentences again and able to feed herself again. I also discovered they forged her initials on admission paperwork that was supposedly done a day after she arrived, even though I was the one legally required to sign as her POA. When I asked for copies, they refused, claiming she was “competent to sign” for herself. I found those papers in her belongings after removing her from their care and I know it’s forged because she NEVER uses her initials as a signature. They never helped her with feeding as I told them she needed help with wit due to being extremely shaky, never performed a smokers assessment as they didn’t know she was a smoker, and clearly have no proper admission protocols. When I tried to get answers about how admission should have gone, they escalated my questions to a lawyer who did not once explain proper admission procedure but instead badgered me for payment. They didn’t even understand that her insurance was through the county and payment had to be handled that way. Not to mention they lost my mother’s wheelchair and took them hours to find it. They never put her boot on her foot and she had a fracture and needed it on her foot. This facility is unsafe, unethical, and completely disorganized. They put my mother’s life at risk, and no family should ever have to go through what we did. I sincerely hope this place is audited and investigated for their neglect and misconduct. So for the owner, I still would like you to comment on this review and explain the proper admission protocol for the facility step by step as the people in charge there plus the lead council Brooke wasn’t able to provide that information to me!
