About The Cottage of Spring Branch

In 2002, a top goal on my medical school application read, “Establish and manage effective, long-term care facilities for the elderly.” This goal was inspired by my role, at that time, on a rehab team in a skilled nursing facility. After being employed there for a little over a year, I decided there had to be a better way.

Seniors are our most prized treasures—full of knowledge, wisdom, and experience. And, those affected by dementia are just as vulnerable as a newborn or an infant. They must be cared for and protected as they cannot do this for themselves anymore. And, our seniors deserve to be surrounded by people full of love, respect, and admiration who make them feel safe, reassured, and part of a real community. I envisioned a place that I would be proud of my own mother to call ‘home’.

An idea that was conceived 16 years ago came to fruition with the formation of Golden Care Cottage Group, LLC in 2018. With the Motto of Heal, Care, Protect, here is my commitment to our residents and family members:

“We provide specialized personal care in a holistic healing environment fostering the best quality of life possible for our residents, in the face of innumerable challenges.”

~ Dr. Zahra Nizami, Executive Director

We are experiencing thoughtful, accommodating and compassionate care for our mother. Wendy and the staff provide a family atmosphere that is helpful for our mother and reduces our stress knowing mom is being well taken care of. Wendy and the staff are excellent at their communications. Mom's visitors comment about the welcoming environment and cleanliness.

*** Please read the whole letter as it has been edited on June 17, 2026.
The first time I walked into this place, 2019, I was truly amazed that this place was an elderly care facility. It is probably the cleanest facility I've ever attended. The clean smell amazes me! The management seems to really care and the staff are really friendly and attentive.
The only problems that concerns me is that they, like so many in the medical field, are understaffed compared to the pre-covid era. They contact us when there is a problem and keeps us informed and up to date on my wife's mother's care.
Most of the problems experienced seem to be the rules and regulations they face or things completely out of their control. No place is perfect, but this place is exceptional compared to most assisted care facilities.
My own mother worked in this field when I was younger and those places might get two stars on their best days . May God continue to bless us by being able to keep my mother-in-law here instead of a lower quality place.
***** EDIT : Okay, since this is getting so many views I feel as though I need to edit and update my reveiw. Since I first posted there has been changes that for the most part are not positive. Many of the original staff are gone and the new management seems to want to implement their stamp on the place. They switched people around without their permission and in the process even lost some personal items. When confronted their attitude was not very positive. While the place seems clean I did have to alert them of an out of order toilet that lacked attention. It should be an easy fix, but any nurse should have seen this problem if they were proficient in their job and reported it ahead of me. My mother-in-law was very upset that day and even her hospice chaplain was upset at the staff's response. I pray that these issues are resolved soon, but for now I will knock off a star.

Now under the caring ownership of Village Green as of October 2024, the community has seen many thoughtful physical and aesthetic enhancements that reflect a renewed commitment to comfort and quality. Wendy is a wonderful, hands-on manager who truly cares about the residents and team, and many of the staff members have been part of this community for years, creating a familiar, welcoming environment for residents and their families.

Should you require the assistance of a facility to take short, or long-term loving care of a family member, The Cottage of Spring Branch is an excellent choice. The Cottage team is made up of a closely knit family of health care professionals. A cohesive unit with a clear objective. Doctors, nurses and caregivers with a passion to Heal, Care for and Protect your loved one. A place where resident's needs and well-being are first priority. Residents are family members here. Treated with the love, respect and dignity they deserve, want and require as your special family members. A personalized care plan will be created to meet your loved one's specific needs for mental and physical nourishment. Your family member will be actively engaged and assisted here. Tasty and healthful meals are freshly prepared morning noon and night. This is NOT a typical assisted living facility. My wife and I moved my mother here a short while ago. Mom had been at a assisted living community here in Houston for well over three years when we began noticing signs of neglect. My mother was not herself and was not being treated well. Now that mom is here things have dramatically changed. I'd say her life as well as mine and my wife's has taken a 180 degree turn for the best ! My mother is now happy, less medicated, well taken care of and sings ! I do not worry about the care she is receiving here. I know she is receiving the best care here. I encourage everyone in need of a highly skilled, extremely knowledgeable assisted living facility to come to The Cottage. The level of commitment and dedication to providing health care services is truly unparalleled. Give them a call. Set-up an appointment. Evaluate the facility and amenities for yourself, more importantly, for your loved one. You will be glad that you did.

They don’t take good care of their residents. They have BED BUGS, if someone falls and breaks their nose they don’t take them to the doctor, the workers are lazy and sleep through the job, even smoke weed and don’t change the residents when they are wet. Even the way the position them to sleep is very uncaring. They need to be reported to the state for negligence!
