While no one hopes to need long-term care for someone they love, and with much trepidation on making a decision, we found Surrey Place to be a facility where Mom was not simply cared for—she was known and valued. We gave pause in reading some online reviews and are glad they did not deter this decision. Was everything 100% perfect, no, but what is? We stayed on top of Mom’s care, visited often and met the team of caregivers. When something was wrong, we brought attention to it and it was fixed right away.
To the Dakota wing nurses (we named you in a letter to the facility), the nursing assistants, dining room staff, receptionists, housekeeping, spiritual care team, activity staff, and every member of the Surrey Place team, thank you. Your smiles, patience, encouragement, and acts of kindness made a difference in Mom’s life and in ours.
We would especially like to recognize nurse Albert, whose loving care and genuine affection for Mom brought her and us such comfort.
We also want to thank the receptionists, the activity staff who encouraged Mom to participate and stay engaged, the spiritual care team who nurtured her soul, and everyone behind the scenes whose work often goes unseen but is so deeply appreciated.
Thank you for treating our Mom not simply as a resident, but as a person with a story, a family, a sense of humor, and a life worth celebrating. Many of you cared for her with dignity, respect, and love, and those gifts will remain with us forever.
We will always be grateful for the care you gave her and the compassion you showed our family.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Family of Lorraine
