This place DOES NOT even deserve a star but I could not place a review without one. Our mother was placed in here for a broken leg and needed rehabilitation. Let me tell you how bad it is. She was made to wear diapers , even though she is not incontinent, and after 4 months of being made to wear them and having to sit in soild diapers until staff felt the need to come and change her she has breakdown on her bottom. Or being told just go in your diaper and we will be back to change you , I personally witnessed this. She has had 2 HOSPITALIZATIONS for elevated ammonia levels when she has NEVER had an issue with this before, not to mention MULTIPLE falls because INATTENTIVE STAFF not answering bells for assistance. And at least one fall with staff present. Not to mention the female staff having really long fingernails and when they try to help their nails end up scratching all over her arms which bleed due to the elderly having very thin skin and should NOT BE ALLOWED!! She was independant at home driving short distances, cooking meals, independant in activities of daily living. And after 4 months of rehab in this facility she is so weak that she CAN NOT even turn over in bed by herself anymore. The building itself is in shambles the walls are crumbling around the windows, windows that don't close correctly or they are broken. BE VERY WEARY OF PLACING YOUR LOVED ONES IN THIS HORRIBLE PLACE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEM AT ALL!!!

If I could give Sunplex a minus 100 Star review I would, this place is Horrible, my Dad was there for 2 weeks and in those 2 weeks he got a bedsore that he didn’t have before, then it got infected and they didn’t care that he had it, he got a bacterial infection in his urine, he was probably a couple days away from passing away and that’s NOT OK!! I do NOT recommend this place for ANYONES LOVED ONES, avoid this place at all costs if you want them to get better, please read this review before you make the decision to go there!!! My mother is in here and has had more hospital trips than any other nursing home she’s been to! I got told she threw herself off the bed but yet she’s paralyzed from the waist down!!! How does that happen? They do not change them hygienically enough at all! My mother has had numerous infections due to this even the emergency room said she isn’t being changed enough and maybe that’s why she can’t get rid of her utis that cause sepsis! Also a woman cursed at my sister on the phone! I can’t get them to answer when I noticed my mom hadn’t called me in a couple days I knew soemthing was off today they found her with her oxygen level at 54! What about the last few days she’s seemed off not feeling well I know she tells them!! Also how do you not know she has heart problems they were there before she entered there also diabetes my mother has had heart issues since her 30s/40s! The place reaks of urine! I’ve never been to a nursing home where it did! So now she has renal disease and it’s the lack of care in my opinion also just because the dr there doesn’t have a diagnosis doesn’t mean it wasn’t there prior! Very understaffed!

Wonderful caring staff from pre admissions to all the care givers ! I have nothing but positive review for this center! First hand knowledge of their care for my brother was the best! I visited all different times of the day ,if no one answered buzzer at door I called once and was always met with sincerity . Yes, I read the bad reviews and knew my brother could speak for himself if something happened. No one place is perfect, they all have flaws but Sunplex staff and care I give an 8!! Thank you Sandy , Whitney and all the other staff that I can’t remember all the names! Also thanks to all the PT, OT and Speech therapists for your help in getting my brother back on his feet !!

My father was here for less than 24 hours. He had fallen twice. The first time he was left yelling on the floor for 40 + minutes in plain view. NO ONE even called his family members. The second time he had called for assistance to the bathroom- he waited in a wheel for 2 hours. Subsequently he made his way to the bathroom himself after numerous attempts of trying to get help. While in the bathroom my father had fallen once again. He was on the floor for over 2 hours and used his cellphone to call my mother and let her know that he had fallen and to call the facility for help. My mother called me and I rushed to Sunplex. My father was in the bed. He could barely speak or open his eyes. His lips were stuck together from dehydration. I told my father that I was getting him out of there. He then mumbled,”good”! I thought there would have been a argument- knowing my dad. I rushed to the nurses station! There were 4 other different family members complaining of the care that their loved ones were not receiving. All I could hear were patients yelling for help. I then told the nurse that I wanted a ambulance called for my father. She didn’t even come to see why! Nor did she ask why! Paramedics arrived and took my father to Ocean Springs Hospital. He was bruised from head to toe. The hospital ER took many photos. They had to give my father 2 pints of blood and then he was admitted to ICU for two weeks. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
