I visited this place the other day and I was very impressed with the facility and the staff. It is well maintained and the residents seemed too be well taken care for. The staff is very nice and they have a lot to offer the residents. Most of them seemed to be enjoying there stay and really looked happy. The staff was very knowledgeable about programs they offer and are very professional.

PLEASE do not be fooled by all of these 5 star reviews like I was. I have learned that a lot of them are false or are posted by employees. They are not an accurate representation of the poor care and neglect the residents are dealing with. They are making deadly mistakes. The CNA’s have awful attitudes and ethics. My family and I are constantly on the phone or in the building trying to get answers and it’s not easy. Staff won’t return calls. The voicemails don’t match the names of the people you try to call. We are seeking other options for our family member and I strongly encourage other families to do the same. Admissions need to be PAUSED until they can get a handle on things. We are going to file complaints with the state of Virginia about some of the most egregious situations we have witnessed here.

The current acting Director of Nursing for the Stratford Rehabilitation Center threatened to move our mother because of our concern that her weight dropped by 12 pounds. The nurse called to provide an update on the handling of a wound and the question was asked "how much does she weigh?" We were told they had to wait for doctor's orders in order to weigh her. We pushed back on that because the nurse (Beth) at the nurse's station has been saying our mom weighs 98 pounds each time I ask (each weekly visit). The CNA who assisted with taking her to the bathroom weighed her advised that mom weighs 86 pounds. That was shocking and surprising. When the nurse was asked about doctor's orders being needed, she said the director or nursing Darlene said so. In speaking with Darlene , we discussed the fact that our family has communicated and specifically voiced concern over the drastic weight loss , with no communication. We have discussed nutrition and ensuring correct assistance is provided when feeding our mom. Darlene said, they are working to help our mother and not able to help me and my sister. She asked where we would like to move our mother . I did not request that. I consider it threatening. they have lost skilled CNA workers to other local nursing homes. They do not have staff on the weekends. They are not equipped to discuss real concerns residents have regarding their loved ones. I let her know , we have been through several administrators and Director's of nursing (one quit after 2 weeks) and all the change prevents consistency. There is always a crisis there. Last month they had no linens, wipes, or supplies to care for the residents.

I had a family member at Stratford and everyone there was very nice and dedicated to helping my grandmother with her rehab. She really liked doing activities. Highly recommend Stratford for rehab.
