I recently visited my father-in-law at Spring Hill Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and the experience was extremely upsetting. The facility appeared run-down and poorly maintained. There were bugs flying around the rooms, hallways, and even the bathroom, which is completely unacceptable in a healthcare environment. The dinner they served looked terrible — as though slop had been thrown onto a plate with a dry piece of cornbread added beside it. No resident should be treated that way. What concerned me even more was the lack of care from the staff. My father-in-law pressed his call light for assistance, and no one ever responded. When I contacted the social worker to discuss transferring him to another facility, she was rude, dismissive, and condescending instead of helpful. During the visit, I also witnessed a staff member yelling at a resident as if she were a small child. It was heartbreaking and deeply unprofessional. If at all possible, I would strongly encourage families to look carefully at other options before placing a loved one here. No one deserves to be treated this way.
