I had a loved one there. When she ended up with RSV while being in there the doctor was persistent that she was fine and that nothing was wrong. So i made the choice to send her to the hospital after arguing with the doctor at the rehab center. I never got any updates on her care. When i would ask to speak to someone about her care i got the run around. I highly do not recomend this rehab/skilled nursing facility to anyone.

DO NOT take anyone you love to this facility if they require any skilled nursing care at all. I have a long list of details about the kind of VIOLATIONS I noted during my husband's stay there...and will be adding that information, once my husband gets processed thru the hospital ER. I am a regulatory auditor by trade, and noted lack of records of care given, falsification of records, and lack of devices, equipment and processes/procedures to care for anyone who is ill. All of the staff here at Spokane Health and Rehab are very professional and knowledgeable in their fields. The CNA’s are friendly and caring and willing to work extra hard to keep me and the other residents comfortable as we progress toward our goals of getting back home safely.

Spokane Health and Rehabilitation is advertised as a stroke rehabilitation center. This couldn’t be further from the truth. None of their staff has been trained or are qualified to treat stroke patients. It is not a stroke rehabilitation facility. After letting a UTI go untreated for 13 days because they lost the test 3 times, my Dad was in immense pain, shaking and having frightening hallucinations. The doctor put him on a very harmful drug for a stroke patient he should have never been on further causing more hallucinations and harm to my Dad. The drug also made him sleepy, weak, and unable to fully participate in therapy, which was already scarce. Therapy was not regularly scheduled and if he was sleeping, they passed over him. Additionally he was a fall risk and they didn’t have the staff available to ensure he was safe. He fell multiple times, once with a wheelchair on top on him and another time resulting in bruising and swelling on his chest they couldn’t explain. Moreover, when asking if they had emotional support therapy to support post stroke depression, they labeled him suicidal which couldn’t have been further from the truth. The night this happened, he was happily singing, laughing, and enjoying time with family. The nurse manager made up a false story about him and continued the story to protect her wrongful actions. Instead of correcting it, and apologizing she continued to tell the false story to other staff and in front of my vulnerable dad with a recent stroke, which planted seeds of false information in his head. Her actions caused him more stress, confusion, and increased delirium. Only after talking to the Director of nursing, was the incorrect incident removed from his records, however the traumatic unnecessary ER visit in the middle of the night was not removed and continues to follow him. A nurse said they are so understaffed there is only 30 minutes of time each day for each patient. If a patient is sleeping, they will not wake them up for meals, orientation, therapy, showers, or any other necessary daily activities important for recovery. I’ve already removed my Dad from this facility but he’s been back in the hospital now for a week and will be going back to a rehabilitation center again for another 2-3 weeks to regain the progress he lost at Spokane Health and rehab because of their harmful care of a vulnerable stroke patient. There were some nurses and staff we appreciated to make this awful experience a little better but the total overall care plan was a disaster. The facility is clean and they have done some updating to make it look better. It would probably be ok if you didn’t need a lot of care. I’m writing this in hopes it will help another family in making a decision about stroke care in the best interest of their family member. Thank you
