My mother was a hospice patient here overseen by Good Shepherd Hospice for about 2-2.5 weeks before she passed. They worked with Hospice to ensure my mother received her medicine every 2 hours for pain and administered her formula through her feeding tube as my mother couldn't feed herself due to her oral cancer. She was also bed ridden and they would rotate her every 2 hours to protect her from bed sores. Staff were very personable and checked in with us and requested feedback. I struggled to understand my mother speak, but they constantly communicated to my mom if she was in pain or if they were going to give her medicine or maneuver her. The only negatives I can give is they seem a little understaffed, I am uncertain of how many patients are there at any time, but I believe they're are 10 staff for the facility at a time. The more obvious negative is the building is very worn out and in need of refresh. The exterior looks worse than the interior thankfully. My moms room had a nice view of oak trees and a lawn.

I was very reluctant to let go and move my wife into Southbrook. After all our decades together, I couldn't imagine not having her with me at our house. We both quickly realized that it was the right thing to do. The care she receives is so much better than I could do and her new friends make her days so enjoyable. Letting go was the right decision.

It was so difficult to leave my husband of over 60 years in their care but he has been made to feel welcome and appreciated. His many new friends have helped with the adjustment and the staff are doing a fine job. I made the right decision.

Needless to say, when surrendering your loved one to a nursing home, the experience is very unsettling for the entire family. But here, the staff and environment quickly erased all the feelings of regret and uncertainty. For that reason alone I am forever grateful for the care and smiles experience here. Allowing your family member to transition into a new home is a significant life event for everyone involved. It can bring many feelings of sadness, worry, and even a sense of relief depending on the circumstances. The experience is likely to bring an array of emotions for all the people involved in the process. It's essential to acknowledge the complexity of these emotions and provide support for the family. This is what defines Southbrook. Thank you and my family thanks you.

When the time comes that your mom requires care beyond what you can personally provide, the most important thing is to find a group of people that you trust. Southbrook became our extended family. My mom settled and her fears of this stage of her life are now gone. Our visits are productive, relaxing, and our family has settled into our new way of life. We trust, and more importantly, my mom trusts everyone at Southbrook. The facility is fantastic. The entire staff is not only skilled, they are welcoming, and the administrator knows and interacts with every resident, everyday as an extension of his own family. Mom is home.
