The staff is wonderful in my opinion. My son's mom had to stay here for a while after she was recovering from being struck by a car. I visited her a lot and they were always polite, helpful, and on top of their routines. The only thing that was rough were the meals and I don't think the staff I dealt with could control that because they straight gave a heads up about it. Letting me know if I loved her I'd bring her good food lol.

Seems like weekends are a joke, press the red button outside to get in 25 times and wait 30 mins just for a worker to still not come and open the door, in fact other visitors who were leaving was how we got in..so suggestion one worker stays at the desk 24/7 (since that’s your hours) so they can answer the door cause I know people that would rather break that door down than to wait and wait on yall (I’m not that kind of person so I’m not threatening in any way, I’m just reminding you there’s some bad apples in this world and they ain’t as nice as me), also the weekend care kinda sucks too my grandpa complains every weekend about how he’ll use his call button and 2-3 hours later here they come strolling in to help which is unacceptable..you see that call light you had dang well better get to stepping to check it out cause things like that will end in a lawsuit if it turns out to be an emergency and yall ain’t checking on that call light that’s neglect guys..grandpa has an attorney for an ongoing case right now..don’t make yourselves another case fair warning. I’ve been super patient and respectful with yall but that’s running very thin now so get you a big glass of act right and get to work or quit if you hate your job.

My grandmother was a resident of Smoky Ridge for several years and passed away at the age of 95 on February 11, 2026. We can't say enough about our dealings with this facility. From the administration to the nurses and CNA's. We truly know that our mother ( grandmother) was loved. Someone from the family was there almost every single day and we mostly interacted with the CNA's and they couldn't have treated her any better. We are thankful that mother is no longer suffering, but we will truly miss these ladies that took care of her. Special thanks to Sam, Jennifer, Samantha and Angela. You all deserve a crown. ❤️

Our little Mama went home to be with Jesus on December 5th 2024. She spent the last 6 months of her life in Smokey Ridge Health and Rehad. My family want you to know, we never expected the level of support and total love our Mama experienced there. In that 6 months the staff became our family encouraging us and guiding us through pain as we watched our Mama move through her last days. We hugged, laughed and cried with our new extended family. From the care on the floor (Nurses and CNAs), to the thoughtfulness of the kitchen staff making sure Mama had food she would eat , to office administration, building maintenence staff (both are preachers) and last but not lest Caleb. These people provided more care than just for our Mama. They are the unsung heros. They work long hard hours doing for patients what families can't. We didn't know until we needed them that they are the Lord's army, faithfully serving others and many of times missing valuable time with their own families. I don't think many know how they managed through Helene. They never stopped care under terrible circumstances such as no electricity and no water. The Director came into her true gift of organizational skills, on steroids. She had water tanks brought in and a hall setup for donations and supplies for staff and patients. Fighting on all fronts to meet patient needs. The facility was also instrumental in dispersing donations into Yancey County because of relationships forged as donations came to Smokey Ridge. We could write many paragraphs to shine a light on them but words are just not enough. These wonderful people changed our lives and if we ever have to walk another path like the last one, we will choose them everytime. May the Lord bless and keep you. We love you all so much.

My grandmother came here after falling at home and breaking her ankle which required surgery to correct. The nursing team at Smoky Ridge was phenomenal! A huge thanks to the therapy department for getting her up and walking again independently and also transportation for making her dialysis treatments their priority! This place truly makes your family a part of their own!
