⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING: Unlicensed Facility Operating Illegally

Rae Booth keeps trying to dispute this review, but families should beware...

Silverbell Homestead is NOT a licensed assisted living facility and has received cease and desist orders from the state requiring residents to relocate immediately.

Despite these legal orders, the owner has repeatedly been misleading families and staff about the facility's status, apparently prioritizing financial concerns over the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable residents. This deception has caused tremendous disruption and hardship for residents who must now find emergency placement elsewhere, their families scrambling to relocate loved ones, and staff members who were misled about their employer's legal standing.

Operating without proper licensure means this facility lacks the required oversight, safety standards, and accountability measures that protect vulnerable adults. The lack of transparency and accountability from ownership during this crisis is deeply troubling.

Families seeking care for loved ones deserve licensed, legally compliant facilities with proper oversight. Please protect your loved ones by choosing a properly licensed assisted living facility.

Here's an excerpt from the letter, which is public record. "Dear Ms. Booth, Staff from the Buncombe County Department of Social Service (DSS) and the Adult Care Licensure Section, Division of Health Service Regulation (DSS) visited your residence on 10/2/2025 and 11/7/2025 and determined that you are currently operating an adult care home without a license. You are hereby ordered to cease and desist all adult care home
operations at your residence, effective immediately. Failure to respond immediately will result in our agency filing an injunction with Buncombe County Superior Court to restrain or prevent the
establishment, conduct, management or operation of an adult care home without a license.

The owner is trying to dispute this review, but truth will prevail. JUST LOOK AT THE SCREENSHOTS OF THE CEASE AND DESIST LETTER.

The owner tells you what you want to hear...facility does not have the proper licensing to be taking residents who have dementia or who need medication. Don't let her marketing fool you.

My mother lived at this home during a very vulnerable time in her life when she needed stability and proper care. Unfortunately, during that period, it became clear that the facility did not have the appropriate licensing for the level of care being provided. The Department of Social Services actually notified us that our loved one had to be relocated. The owner didn't even have the decency to call us and tell us the truth.

As a result, our mother was forced to relocate at a time when consistency and support were critical to her well-being. That transition was extremely difficult and disruptive for her.

Families considering care for a loved one should take the time to independently verify licensing, oversight, and the level of care a facility is legally permitted to provide before making a decision.

I see residents here in my role as a home care RN. They are treated well, fed real home cooked meals cooked in a home kitchen setting and eat together in the dining room. The staff is skilled to an appropriate level. One of the best residential assisted living places I have ever been to. I've heard there's a long wait list and I see why.

I had my mom at Silverbell Homestead for two years until she passed. The owner and staff were always kind and helpful even after she was gone. She found this place to be very comforting and safe. Rae's MUAHS model is definitely what I would recommend for anyone who wants their elderly loved ones to have a safe place to live but still retain their Independence.
