This review is specifically in reference to the physical therapy and rehabilitation I received at Shady Knoll… At a few months short of 66 years old, I had never been admitted to a hospital or a short term rehab facility prior to breaking my right femur into several pieces just above the knee, in mid April. Emergency surgery was performed within 36 hours and, 5 days after that I was transferred to Shady Knoll. The physical therapy staff, headed by Joe Seres (Director of Rehab Services) was exemplary. The individuals who, at one time or another during my 5.5 week stay, worked directly with me are to be commended for their professionalism, understanding, and compassion. I had told each of them upon my arrival to ‘push me as hard and as far as is wise’. They did that and, I am the better for it as the initial prognosis was for a somewhat to potentially much longer stay than what I experienced. To Joe, Jen, Emily, Amy, Jennifer, Wendy, Erin, and Matt, I owe you all a debt of gratitude I could never repay. You, each in your own way, made the difficult situation I found myself in, more bearable with each passing day by the methods employed to not only physically rehabilitate my leg but, mentally and emotionally rehabilitate my mind and thought processes. Kudos and salutations to you all and, the next time you see me the ‘Playoff beard’ will be gone!

The therapists are great. Jen is really awesome. The food is cold alot. The aids aren't always the most attentive, but they try.

Visited today to see a hospice patient. Facility was clean and appeared to be run well. Nurse Kate was friendly and knew about the patients she was caring for. I would recommend this place to someone looking for ltc in this area.

I am surprised by the bad reviews. MOST people write a review when they are not happy. Before you write a review about Shady Knoll with negative feedback, have you spoken to the administrator Elza, the DNS Diane, Kate in Admissions, Samie in Social Services? If there are concerns, they work on fixing them. To call the place filthy is unfair. It is SO clean! Maybe old, but NOT dirty. The rehab team is STRONG! You should give this team a chance to care for your loved one and work alongside them, not against them. I will always recommend Shady Knoll.

My mother was there for a little over a month and I was there regularly to visit, help, and bring stuff to her. With 20+ years of formerly working in healthcare, I can say the place was indeed clean although my mother couldn't get a battery for her clock, or hot meals/coffee because "the microwave was broken" as dietary staff told her. Nursing staff, PT's/OT's and housekeepers were friendly. All the receptionists and some of the cna's on the other hand didn't seem like they cared much (no hello/goodbye, etc). Lots of cell phone use on the floor/behind the desk, lack of good customer service. Also, my mother had her teeth thrown out and her velour pants stolen during her stay. I always had problems with the face scanner and on the last day, I just walked right in seeing how the receptionist wasn't assisting because he was too busy on his phone. I guess everyone has different views on this place and others. My mother was glad to get out of there and be back home. Thank you to those who did a great job assisting!
