SEE PHOTOS FOR FULL REVIEW!!!! Sears seemed like an amazing facility from the beginning. The staff was friendly, and very attentive to both my grandmother's needs, as well as keeping us up-to-date on things going on. As time progressed, however, we started to see a different side. It started with billing. They told us that her insurance company was the worst one, and they wouldn't cover their on-staff care physician, nor cover the cost of her prescriptions. I changed her insurance. I then started to notice I was being billed for their physician charges on her monthly bill, as well as from the doctor's private practice (which is owned by the same company that owns Sears Manor). I was also still receiving a monthly bill for her prescriptions. I addressed this at a care meeting and they said it was a misunderstanding, to simply bring in the doctor's bills that they were sending us, because the physician was unaware that she was in their nursing home - I'm sorry, what? They're unaware? Aside from the fact that they told us in the beginning that they had an in-house doctor, but also a Physician's Assistant on staff at all times - I later found out that they weren't even seeing her in person, they're doing it via teleheath! We were also told that transportation would be covered by the facility, to any doctor's appointments she had, as long as they knew 3 days in advance. She's now missed 3 appointments due to their, "lack of communication between departments". Also, regarding their transportation policy - they informed me a week ago that the state of GA had changed their transportation company, and that instead of a 3-day notice, they'd now require a three week notice. They told me this policy went into effect on April 1, 2026. So, I asked why they wouldn't have informed us or any of the other member's families about this prior to April 1, and they said they weren't aware of it until it went into effect. So, that means you still waited until I called 20 days later to remind you of her appointment, and you still hadn't informed us? I quickly found out why, it was because if they didn't inform the patient's families, they'd then be able to charge the patient's families anywhere from $100-250 out-of-pocket, NOT ON THEIR BILL, BUT UP FRONT BEFORE THEIR APPOINTMENT. That just seems awfully convenient for their pockets. So, even after this was all discussed at her last care meeting, they agreed they'd cover the cost for her most recent appointment, which was scheduled for April 29, 2026. I also stated that the patient would have to have bloodwork drawn 2 days prior, and they said that wasn't a problem, that they could do the bloodwork at Sears Manor and ensure the doctors got it. We confirmed that appointment in person at the meeting. I called the doctor's office three days prior to the appointment, and asked them to fax over the necessary bloodwork to Sears Manor, and also confirm the appointment.
