As I was trying to parent my children, the nurse that had come out to sit with my father-in-law interrupted me parenting my kids, and was being very rude telling me to be quiet and valued her job over mine. Nurses needs to realize that they are at someone's home and they can't just walk in trying to control what goes on in that person's home. Claiming that they're trying to do their job, but it's kind of hard to do your job if you're too busy interrupting me from doing mine as a parent. No nurse has the right to interrupt parent's while they are trying to parent their children. And if you're patient is taking medication that is supposedly supposed to help keep them stay calm then there should be no reason or excuse to why you would interrupting a parent to tell them to be quiet in the first place. Just do your job and leave me alone.

The administrator who scheduled sitters was excellent, even on short notice and with communication outside business hours. The actual sitters were hit-or-miss. One seemed to be a good person who genuinely cared about the welfare of my dad. One was bad, leaving my father lying in his own feces at least once. I get it---poop duty is unpleasant, especially for someone you don't love. I have insufficient observation of the other three sitters to evaluate them, but I know my father slipped in a pool of urine and ended up falling on the floor while one of the three was on watch, so I question her commitment too. All that said, my dad can be an arrogant, whining, soul crushing bully who won't use his walker and who won't take instruction, so I can see why a sitter would not want to help him, but that's why I paid $27/hr.
