Our dear 91 y/o mom spent time at Rice Estate after falling and breaking her hip. She was unable to stand. One day, I walked into her room and found her doubled over in an unlocked wheelchair. I requested help from a CNA. She came in and said that if Mama didn't participate in physical therapy "it's three strikes and you're out, and Medicare won't pay for it." Astounded, I said to the CNA that a little compassion goes a long way. Then I went to the nursing director's office, relayed the interaction with the CNA, and demanded my mom be taken home that day. Mama was brought home via ambulance a couple of days later. She died at home within the week.<br>I would never recommend Rice Estate to anyone.
