As I sit here on this 4th of July, I remember last 4th of July when she was on cool aerosol. I remember my family and I thinking our mom was on her way to being weaned off the ventilator and would be coming home. That never happened. In fact, we ended up taking her out of SACC a few months later. My mom passed away in January of this year (2026). I will never forgive SACC for not trying the herbal remedy we asked for multiple times. I don't know if these remedies would have worked, but I would have done anything to try. After all, the therapy department threatened us that we would have to sign a waiver if we wanted to try to sit her up at the edge of the bed. Why we could not have signed a waiver for the herbs is beyond me. I will never forgive the doctor who treated her, some of the RNs, and some of the RT's who did not want to try and help but always kept stepping back. My mom lost her will to live; all she wanted was to go home, and all SACC wanted was to keep her in that bed.
