About Princeton Health Care Center

Princeton Health Care Center is a skilled nursing facility in Princeton, West Virginia, providing both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation. Established in 1981 and operated as an independent, not-for-profit organization, the center has a four-decade history of serving the skilled nursing needs of Mercer County and the surrounding area.

The facility offers comprehensive care addressing residents' physical, mental, and emotional well-being. In 1989, Princeton Health Care Center opened the state's first dementia care unit and has continued to expand its services since then. The center is Medicare and Medicaid certified and coordinates care through a multidisciplinary approach where various practitioners contribute their expertise to meet residents' needs.

The campus is situated in a scenic country setting and is conveniently located in relation to Princeton Community Hospital and other healthcare providers. Residents benefit from on-site services that address most vital care needs, reducing the necessity for off-campus medical appointments.

Princeton Health Care Center provides an array of recreational and social activities throughout the year, including games, crafts, and social events held on-site. Residents also participate in outings to local attractions such as Whistlepigs baseball games, fishing trips, performances at the Chuck Mathena Center, musical events at area churches, facility picnics with live music, and visits to local fairs, festivals, shops, and restaurants. Residents can choose their level of involvement in these activities.

They did not care for my Aunt Ruby. Now I see why. They may take care of the elderly to some people, But when it come to outside of the walls, they are NOT nice people. Lady that works there rolled over my dog and killed him and kept going. Came back later only because it damaged her Lincoln continental car. Her husband started taking his coat off to fight me. We don't need cruel people to care for our Moms and Dads. Very uncaring. A pet is like a child and family to alot of people. Writing this to make sure you know what kind of people are you trusting with your loved ones. Very uncaring don't care for the elderly. Just a paycheck. They took me to court for killing my dog. And wanted me to pay for their Lincoln continental repairs that my dead dog did.

Our experience with Princeton so far has been absolutely wonderful. We transferred our loved one from another facility where the care was truly lacking, and the difference has been night and day. The nurses at Princeton have shown our loved one nothing but compassion, patience, and genuine care — and that means everything to our family. A special thank you to Tammy from admissions, who has been an absolute angel. She is kind, understanding, and incredibly efficient. Tammy made the transition process so much easier for us, and we’re beyond grateful for her support every step of the way. Knowing that our loved one is in a place where they are treated with love and dignity gives us such peace of mind. We couldn’t be more thankful!
