IMHO, it is unfortunate that this facility is about to go through a terrible decline.

1) Top management at the ownership level failed, and continues to fail to address significant grievances from family members of residents - many efforts to contact the CEO by residents have had no response
2) The very best and most important key management personnel have left the org, such as the Memory Care operations manager
3) Complaints from resident family members about few caregivers having nasty attitude, continued be unheeded
4) Resident population is thinning both in Memory Care & Assisted Living
5) The food menu is also mediocre

I will not be surprised if the place is shutdown, or gets sold off.

If I could give this facility less than one star, I would. Whatever you do, do not bring your loved one to this location.

When my mother became a resident, she was in a shared room and we paid $3,750 per month. At her annual renewal in May 2026, Varsha and Kimoya were unable to find another resident to share the room, they changed her to a single-occupancy rate and increased the monthly cost to $6,195. I do not understand why it became our responsibility to absorb such a significant increase simply because the facility could not find a roommate.

In my opinion, Prema has gone downhill since Kimoya Hill became Executive Director after taking over from Terese Askew in July 2025. Throughout our experience, I found Kimoya to be rude, unprofessional, disrespectful, and dismissive of family concerns. Rather than addressing repeated complaints, I felt she defended certain employees and described them as “misunderstood” instead of holding them accountable.

Several family members, including myself, raised concerns about two care staff members who frequently appeared to be on their phones or engaged in conversations with one another or with a private sitter instead of focusing on resident care. On multiple occasions, I personally observed residents in distress who were expected to come to the staff instead of staff responding promptly to assist them, creating what I believe were unnecessary safety concerns.

I also experienced what appeared to be favoritism from management. Instead of addressing legitimate concerns, I often felt blamed or belittled for advocating for my mother. Families who speak up about the quality of care seem to be labeled as “aggressive” or told they may not be a good fit for the community.

During our time there, the facility also experienced significant leadership turnover. There currently no full-time nurse and no Memory Care Director. My mother lived at Prema for just over a year and, despite my understanding of the facility’s assessment requirements, she received only one formal assessment. The assessment occurred in March of 2026 when her level of care was increased. This caused her rate to be increased which I challenged and they held off on the $200/month increase they planned in March/April 2026.

When I spoke to other family members they experienced the same issue of an assessment with a rate increase. Not sure if this was a way for Prema to recover the losses for the company due to very few residents coming into the memory care verses those that left or passed away. State requirement requires the facility to have quarterly assessments which Prema in violation of.

Because of my concerns, I filed a formal complaint with the Georgia Department of Community Health and have documentation, including emails, supporting the issues I raised throughout my mother’s stay.

I was also disappointed that I never saw meaningful engagement from the owner, Rohin Patel, regarding the concerns raised by families. The promotional videos present a very different picture from what we experienced day to day. In my experience, the meals and overall services did not consistently reflect what was advertised.

When we moved my mother out on July 17, 2026, Memory Care had only about 13 to 14 residents despite having capacity for 32 residents. During our time there, we also witnessed many residents pass away, which was difficult for families and residents alike.

The physical condition of the facility was another concern. Furniture and carpets were stained, the rocking chairs on the patio were often dirty unless families repeatedly complained, and routine maintenance did not appear to be a priority. Even the staff bathroom needed repairs, which reflected poorly on the overall upkeep of the building.

There are many other memory care communities that provide better value and higher-quality care for the same—or even lower—monthly cost. Based on my family’s experience, I cannot recommend Prema. I strongly encourage families to thoroughly research other options before making such an important decision for their loved one.

Prema memory care is AMAZING! We toured many (at least 7?) places and had a bad experience at another facility before coming here - so we are definitely able to make some comparisons. Prema is very reasonably priced compared to local competitors while offering excellent facilities and care. My mother in law was a resident here for about a month before she sadly passed away.

First and foremost, the staff at all levels genuinely care about the residents and make that extra effort to be thoughtful and kind, the way you would for your own family members. Several different staff would come over and shake my MIL's hand or greet her or pat her on the shoulder etc. unprompted when we visited. I saw examples of them finding ways to allow residents to keep their personhood and participate in the community with their specific skills and interests. After moving from a not great memory care facility to Prema, my MIL started smiling more, becoming more engaged and animated. The staff actually make the extra effort to give residents good experiences - the amenities aren't just there for show. They actually take the residents outside to the courtyard to enjoy the sunshine. They actually do bring everyone out to the assisted living side when there are performances to enjoy. This is not to be taken for granted - elsewhere, these small moments of joy for residents don't happen whether because of understaffing or a lack of will to make the effort.

Also thumbs up for hygiene and personal care - unlike at the place we came from, her teeth looked clean, and they regularly cut her nails and even painted them. It also generally smells decent - we had toured several facilities that smelled like ambient urine and this was not one of them. They also seemed pretty good about hydration. Where we came from, MIL's lips were often chapped and she had frequent UTIs but this wasn't a concern at Prema.

The facilities are beautiful and cozy, and were perfect for our needs. There is a tank of fish and pet birds to enjoy. The lights aren't super harsh. There are nice decorations and natural light from the courtyard. It's spacious and easy for someone with a wheelchair to get around. The memory care area is secure but not a pain to get in and out of. In the assisted living side, there's also a beautiful courtyard with a playground. It was perfect for us, because we could visit my MIL with my 2 kids and bring her there to watch the kids play.

I also appreciate the activities! As evidenced by Prema's very active Facebook page, they've got a ton of programming going on for residents. Unlike other places where there may be a handful of specific scheduled activities and then residents are left to stare vacantly into space most of time, at Prema, I always saw my MIL engaged in something when we visited. At the very least, watching TV. There were also performances, bingo, crafts, time with busy books, etc.

Though we hadn't gotten to take advantage of it, I was also impressed with integrated in house PT - that would've been perfect for my MIL who had major mobility issues after suffering many falls. Falls were a huge concern for us, and we liked that options like bed alarms were on the table and that residents were mostly kept in a larger open communal space where they could be easily supervised. Also, communication was easy and responsive from day 1, with keeping us abreast of everything going on and taking care of our questions. This is also not something to take for granted! There was a level of trust that we had in the staff at Prema, where we felt good that MIL was being treated right and kept safe. That peace of mind was invaluable.

When my MIL passed away, everyone was so thoughtful and respectful and took special steps to help give us closure and have privacy. It was emotional for everyone, and it was evident that even though MIL was only there a relatively short time, the staff at Prema genuinely cared about her. They also put up a photo of her with flowers in the common area, and came together to be with us and give her a beautiful send-off.

My father has been a resident of Prema at Suwanee Creek for the last two years and we are so pleased with the quality of care he receives from the staff. He truly enjoys living there and the staff always make us feel welcome and a part of the family. Marquise and Nicole do an outstanding job of providing engaging activities and events for both the memory care and assisted living residents. They work hard to create an atmosphere that is caring and includes family members. My father and I are looking forward to their upcoming Golden Egg luncheon where we will celebrate the arrival of the spring season. And this comes on the heals of their first annual Valentine Ball which my father and sister attended together. We are thankful to Kimoya and her staff at Prema for providing a wonderful home for our Dad. It is a comfort to us that he is in such good hands.
