I was sent to PRNC for "pulmonary" rehab, for which it is not equipped. The staff attempted to create a space and I did benefit aerobically in my 5 or 6 days there. That said, it was a nightmare. They were chronically understaffed, a revolving door policy was evident in my short stay, half walking around clueless. Generally 3 did everything. Call lights rang for hours. To say the food was a tragedy is an understatement. No lie they served a version of stone soup, that was so pitiful it was funny, I actually wrote an "Ode to the chef".. one small carrot cube, a fragment of a cabbage leaf old murky broth. It was an odd day if something edible came along, mostly dog vomit with rice or pasta. Anyway, I ordered out. This diet is not life sustaining for anyone. Food can often be the final good sensation. The quality is important physically and psychologically, the ritual. A more holistic approach could offer cognitive and physical benefits. Food is the foundation. Also trust, I wasn't here for an hour and all the items that my husband packed, clothes ect, were lost. Just vanished. In summary, I would strongly advise you find a nicer atmosphere for your loved one. The stoic staff also deserve this. The failure lies directly in the hands of management and ownership. Greed.

My wife clothing I dropped off and the person they have answering the phone could not figure out how to connect me to my wife's room and hung up on me when I called back. The staff seem caring and nice but they are all overworked with that deer in the headlights look. So far after 2 weeks I give them a C.

Do not send your loved ones here! This place is a nightmare. My grandmothers clothes all went missing on week 1. Her cell phone went missing a few weeks later! And now her purse and wallet are gone as well! We filed a police report! Every time we have gone to check on her she looks unbathed.

What a great place. When my Dad arrived there more than 2 years ago our family felt great because of how understanding and compassionate the whole staff was. That feeling has not changed. If there is ever a problem or concern, things get done and the response is right away. Anytime a question comes up, I call or send an email and it is resolved. My Dad is in a great place with my wonderful people both the residents and the staff. As they say, about every organization, when it is good or bad, it starts from the top of staffing and goes all the way down to all the others. Elena Vega-Castro the Administrator has been NOTHING less than understanding and helpful and that is carried down to everyone that works there. She sends out letters each month informing us of what is going on from special events to on going issues (such as Covid). If you ever need to place a loved one at a nursing facility, this is the place to go in Plattsburgh. I assure you that once your loved one is there, you know you did not make a mistake and will have lots of support and understanding from all who work there and live there.

I have been at Plattsburgh rehab for just under one year. We have a strong nursing and therapy team. If you are looking for rehabilitation from an unexpected fall or injury this is the place to go! The whole team: house keepers, maintenance, kitchen staff, and aides work together to take the best care of our patients. Please call for a tour. We would love to have you.
