My brother, in the last 8 months, went from having 20/20 vision, to being completely blind, Pine Knoll nursing home is taking care of him. The entire family and friends are depending on them. He is so helpless and not used to being blind. I can't even imagine what that's like. I have brought him a radio, and from time to time it gets unplugged but I'm sure they're keeping an eye on what station he wants and making sure it's always plugged in. I thank them for that. When I call, they're very good about getting him on the phone for me, they're very kind and patient .I am glad we have the opportunity to place him there while we are trying to get into , Mass Eye and Ear to see if his eyesight can be repaired. He's 74 years old, he's never been blind in his life. This is about the last thing we expected to happen to any of us. It is a real nightmare. I think having this nursing home facility be able to keep us eye on him and keep him safe and hopefully occupied, engaged, somewhat, I'm going to be visiting to see how he's doing, unfortunately I live several hours away and I'm running a corporation. But I will definitely let you know how well they take care of a blind man with no background of being blind, and how they care for him as one of their own. I will write later to update this post. I do want to thank Vicky, she has been very helpful in getting him on the phone, as many other people have too and I will be more careful about getting their name so I can give them credit where credit is due. Thank you so much for keeping an eye on our brother this is so sad for us, as I'm sure you all can imagine, and so lucky you don't have to. It's a new day today, I just spoke with my brother, he had had five boiled eggs for breakfast, he thought that was fine, I wouldn't have if it had been me. And my issue today is the fact that I left him a radio to listen to music with, and he let me know that it had come unplugged, and no one checked to make sure it was plugged in. So I just called and talked to a very nice man Achiri, who said he would go make sure that Charlie's radio was plugged in and on a station that he likes. I left that radio there 2 weeks ago I'm a little disappointed that they didn't notice it in the interim. I'm hoping they're going to notice he's blind and pay extra special attention to him. As you would want anyone to take care of a loved one that can't even see you. I will continue this later with the outcome of the radio saga. And I will give praise to Achiri, who will have saved the day, and hopefully check on him everyday to make sure his radio is still on a station and not unplugged by accident.

My Mom is a resident of Pine Knoll. My brother and I thought we did what was best for her. What a bleeping joke. We can’t get in touch with her. We’re sent on how many darn transfers. She’s alone, sick, and sad.

I am highly impressed with Pine Knoll Nursing Center. Several years ago my grandmother came here for rehabilitation. She was so happy with her care at Pine Knoll, that she chose to come back in 2019 when more health issues came up with her. She made the decision on her own to come to Pine Knoll as she did not want to burden her family. Every day that I visited or spoke with her, she would brag about the CNA's and nursing staff who were caring for her. They made her transition from her home as easy as things could be.
