My Dad stayed here for 20 days and when he was discharged, they told me he was denying his medicine for several days. If they had told me sooner I would have had the chance to talk to him myself but I was denied that chance. When I picked him up, he had oxygen on him and by the time we got home, an hour later, we had to call EMS who said his oxygen was at 40% but they had not ordered oxygen for at home and his other DME had not even arrived but they chose to discharge him anyway. He went right back to the hospital before he even made it in the house and that is where they discovered a deep tissue injury on his heel that covered the entire thing and was blackish purple. I don't know if Pickettcare treated it but they did NOT tell me about it when I picked him up though they told me about a much smaller wound and how to treat that. He was diagnosed with systemic inflammatory response.<br>My Dad was doing better once treated at the hospital and said he never denied medication, especially pain meds and whether that's true or not, he was not aware of things while at Pickettcare as he had thought he had been snowing that morning so obviously had confusion.<br>One of the medications he was supposed to take was a blood thinner to prevent a blood clot that could cause a stroke. He is currently in the hospital again, the 2nd time after being discharged from Pickettcare, and he had suffered a stroke.<br>I don't know what happened at this place but just from the fact they didn't tell me about the medication refusal or the HUGE wound when I am responsible for his home care, I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I likely could have convinced him to take his medicine. They claimed he refused physical therapy but he wasn't getting his pain meds so how could he? They told me he was struggling to walk and mentioned it was anxiety but his oxygen dropped immediately after discharge so that leads me to believe it was not simple anxiety but rather an actual medical problem they failed to recognize. He was never taken to any follow up appointments and he was referred to urology and neurology by UK hospital.<br>When I picked my Dad up, he told me that he had prayed for death. It broke my heart.
