We recently had to move my sister to Parkersburg Care Center. We had a phone meeting today with myself, my sister Barbara and several staff members including administrators, therapists and nurses. We went over her care and treatment as well as the financial side of her stay and what the future holds for her either at the facility or, preferably, at her home.
While no definite plan was formed, we managed to chart a course to accomplish what is best for Barb.

My mom is a patient there for short term nursing or whatever. Some of the nurses are lazy, they will not let her get a breath of fresh air, even though her doctor signed off on it. The food is terrible, some residents compare it to jail food. Mystery meat, barley any fruit, and no vegetables. It has taken over an hour at some point for my mother to receive her medication. She has not been able to shower due to the hot water tank being busted, as well as when it was fixed not being able to have a nurse help her bathe and help her with her oxygen machine. She will ask for help with various things, and the help never comes.

She is also being threatened to be kicked out due to her insurance, and is having no help with anyone trying to help her find a place to live, besides the shelters.

They also do not answer the telephone past 4 pm.

I would not put a family member in this place. I have worked in a nursing home before, and this facility is terrible.
