It was the first time I had visited my sister at The Oaks in New Bedford, MA. I found the facility neat & clean, without any offensive odors to make me ill at ease. The staff were kind, friendly & very helpful. Signage was sufficient to find my way around. From what I saw, there appeared to be quite a few attendants working with the residents. I am not familiar with the daily activities available to help keep residents involved & active in their lives but I do know they exist as I passed a room filled with wheelchair bound individuals listening to a leader & following her directions. There is a snack shop which I didn’t enter for fear I would buy one of everything! Also, a nice hairdressing facility is on the premises for those who wish to keep up with the latest hair trends. The backyard looks like a nice place to spend a sunny afternoon once the weather warms up. It is complete with bird feeders & has plenty of seating. My sister enjoys the food & seems quite content with the accommodations. Her personal attendant introduced herself to me & even brought in a comfortable chair to use during my visit. I found her to be warm & caring. No doubt she provides necessary assistance for my sister with a smile & a pleasant attitude. There is plenty of parking & handicap spaces available for those who need them. Security was tight with all visitors required to sign in upon their arrival & sign out when departing. Doors are locked as of a certain hour with entrance allowed by ringing a bell & checking in with the night attendant. Overall I must say I am very impressed with their operations & look forward to my next visit. Residents can participate in as many activities as they do or don’t desire, depending upon their physical health & mental acuity. The atmosphere is relaxed & pressure free. I’m relieved my sister is living in such an acceptable facility & I thank the employees for their cheerful demeanor’s & willingness to be of service. Sheila Silva

My friend who was there received very good care. We never had an issue getting responses from the team. There was an issue where they didn’t request a chair ride for a Dr appt but thankfully it was resolved a day later.

My dad is at the Oaks for rehabilitation and has been there for a little over a week. From the start I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility and the level of services my dad is getting from the staff. Everyone I meet are true professionals. It is very clear the employees care about the patients and are proud of their facility. I couldn’t be more pleased with my decision to have dad rehab at the Oaks.
