After a devastating slip, plus a fall a month later which broke her sacrum, my then 86 year old mother thought she had reached the end of her road. It was a huge wake-up call for her. During her recovery, she realized there was no way she could return to living alone in her two story condominium, over 100 miles away from family. She is fiercely independent, and on her own, researched several independent living facilities. When she found Oakmont Gardens, she said, "This is exactly what I've been looking for. It's perfect!" She forged full steam ahead with making the arrangements, before she was even physically able to move there. "They have the apartment I want, and I don't want to lose my chance." Mom officially moved in several months ago, and Oakmont Gardens has been nothing short of a blessing. She has always been quite a social butterfly, so she has had no trouble making friends. We are very grateful for the staff and the Oakmont Gardens community for making what could have been a difficult transition a very smooth process. The staff is especially attentive, and whenever a question or concern is communicated, they are incredibly quick to respond. The buildings are well kept and very clean, there are over 100 clubs, and the residents can enjoy all the recreational facilities available to the Oakmont community. The dining room offers a wide selection, and the meals I have eaten there have all been good. The Oakmont Gardens lifestyle reminds me of being on a cruise; everything is taken care of, including transportation and scheduled outings. Some of us like to keep busy, others prefer not to have every minute scheduled, and at Oakmont Gardens, either choice is welcomed.
