About NHC HealthCare

NHC HealthCare in Saint Charles, Missouri provides skilled nursing and long-term care services. The facility handles both short-term rehabilitation and extended residential stays.

Family experiences with the facility are deeply divided. Several families describe exceptional care from named staff members, nurses like Hema, Jaime, and Mary who "cared for him like he was family," along with aides and therapists who supported recovery with genuine attention. Families of rehabilitation patients report smooth transitions, regular communication, and staff invested in residents' comfort and independence. However, other families report serious concerns: unresponsive management, understaffing leading to incidents like unsupervised falls, and staff appearing inattentive during shifts. One family wrote of finding their loved one "fallen on the floor, staff had no idea." These accounts point to inconsistency in oversight and accountability across the facility.

Food and activities receive positive mentions when they occur, one family noted staff ensuring their mother received the nutrition and protein she needed despite appetite challenges. The cleanliness and doctor involvement are praised by some families.

The facility holds a 3.6 out of 5 Google rating based on 34 reviews, reflecting this polarization between strong rehabilitation outcomes and serious management and safety concerns.

Wow, what a wonderful place. The entire staff was so caring and wonderful. Special thanks to Donna, Tyler And Justin, the physical therapists who helped me SO much in regaining mobility (I had a broken leg and ankle). Special thanks to Hema who took such good care of me. The techs and CNAs were kind and caring. The food was great! Also, the social workers went above and beyond to help me with follow-up care when I returned to my home.

Management is a big mess. The DON stays n her office and avoids conflict or interaction with staff or patients. Management doesn't know how to discipline staff or take accountability for their staffs behavior, they blame the nurses for not "watching their hall". Nurses work short on aids and with no medication tech....all the time, everything put on their shoulders with 25-30 patients to 1 nurse. The doctor thinks she owns the place, yells at staff as if she pays their own bills. Even yells at patients and family members if she does come out of her office, majority of the time the patients have no idea who the doctor is and has never physically seen her.

When my 80 year old mother was injured, she required rehab and nursing care. I chose NHC after careful research and I can confirm they are true to their values and mission of quality care! The staff is amazing and attentive and the facility is a high standard of clean. We did not have to worry at all and slept great knowing Mom was in good hands. Truly everyone on the team was invested in Mom's care. We received updates often and I can't thank the staff enough for taking such good care of her.

Unprofessional. Uneducated.

If your only chooses are between here and passing away... start making arrangements.

I'm in over 200 facilities a year for my job. When I see "the horseshoe" of wheelchairs so 1 staff member can observe 8+ residents. I recently had the opportunity to meet the staff here when we placed my mom in their care. I have nothing but gratitude and deep respect for everyone I met and worked with. From the time my mom arrived until the day she passed she was treated with kindness and respect. It was as if she was part of their family. Her care was excellent. Everyone we encountered were friendly, professional and caring. Our only regret is that we didn't find them sooner. If you have a need for long term care or rehab, I highly recommend this place. They consistently anticipated our questions and needs and addressed them perfectly. Hats off to everyone at NHC, residents and staff alike, keep doing what you do.
