Newark Gardens I is an affordable senior residential community in Newark, California, offering 150 units of independent living housing in a 2- and 3-story elevator-served building. The community includes 149 one-bedroom units and one two-bedroom unit.

The property features a recreation and dining hall with a commercial-sized kitchen, library, lobby, and common areas designed to support resident life. Extensive landscaped grounds and two elevators serve the community.

Originally constructed in 1983, Newark Gardens I underwent comprehensive rehabilitation in January 2011. Renovations included replacement of original single-paned windows with energy-efficient double-paned windows throughout all residential units, complete removal and replacement of the existing siding, and roofing repairs.

Newark Gardens I and the adjacent 50-unit Newark Gardens II together comprise the only fully affordable multifamily housing developments in the City of Newark.
