The actual facility could use a serious update because it's very old and in general could just use an upgrade. However the care that my mother has received has been overall very good. People there obviously interact with her and she really enjoys the people that just stop in from the hallways (or to give her therapy or activities to do) to come and see her. She has serious dementia and can be aggressive at times and often refuses to get out of bed maybe averaging once a week to be cooperative to get out of bed and in the three years she's been there we've had no skin problems we've had no problems with staff being rude to her or anything else which we have had in other facilities. There are difficulties like in any nursing home however overall I'm really grateful to the staff.

Choosing a nursing facility for my dad was a difficult task not really knowing what to look for. Some facilities were designed like fancy hotels but once inside we noticed the staff looked exhausted , over worked or un happy with their workplace. Mount Carmel was different.and my dads experience there reflects that difference. Every caregiver who enters my fathers room brings a unique way to understand my father, not just his needs but who he is , what brings a smile to his face. On many occasions I’ve heard him express his love for those caring for him and the gesture is reciprocated. Mount Carmels communication with family also has been outstanding. They reach out regularly for care plan meetings and any medical or prescription changes in a timely reassuring manner. Any concerns or questions we’ve had are answered immediately. The decision to place my father in a nursing care facility was a difficult step but there’s no doubt in my mind that Mount Carmel was absolutely the right choice.

Mt Carmel takes loving care of my Mom. Mom doesn’t talk much, but all the staff engages her anyway and, as a result, gets a smile or a comment. They make her feel loved and important. Additionally, all the staff welcomes visitors, each and everyone saying “hello, can I help?” I and other family and visitors have been ignored in other facilities. I don’t have to worry for a moment about Mom’s care and safety.

My 104 year old mother has been at MCCC for 4 years. I wouldn't want her anywhere else. It is very clean facility and the staff are excellent. They are caring and warm in their approach to the residents, and treat them like family. The rehab staff also is top notch. My mother is very happy there and compliments the staff every time I come to visit her. It is truly a jewel in Berkshire County among nursing homes.

We looked at four different places in the area and decided on Mount Carmel. We noticed that the residents were out and about and were conversing with each other and doing activities. The staff was busy and working hard and very attentive to the residents. The facility was clean and most of all, my 93 year old mother in law was comfortable right away - and this was a woman who didn't want to go to a 'nursing home'. Hopefully she is just there for rehab and will be back home soon and I feel confident she will have the best chance there - 7 days a week PT/OT - the most of all the places we visited. And they have cute male PT's as I have been told by staff and residents :-)!
