Morning Pointe of Knoxville on Westland Drive is such a special place. My family and I have been volunteering here weekly since 2019, and over the years the residents have truly become like family to us. It’s a warm, welcoming community where people are genuinely cared for and valued. The staff is phenomenal — always kind, attentive, and full of compassion. We are incredibly thankful to be part of this community and have seen firsthand the difference they make in the lives of the residents every day.

Our experience with Morning Pointe at Happy Valley was disappointing and concerning.<br><br>My parents were placed in memory care even though my father was fully independent and able to assist in caring for my mother, who has Alzheimer’s. It’s important to note that my mother has absolutely no elopement issues. The distinction between assisted living and memory care is important, and in this case, the facility later acknowledged that memory care was not appropriate and agreed to move them to assisted living.<br><br>However, after my mother was hospitalized following a fall, the assisted living apartment that had been promised to them was given to another resident without any communication with our family. My parents never returned to the facility after that.<br><br>Unfortunately, this experience reflected a pattern of poor judgment and inadequate communication. Families should carefully evaluate placement practices and ask many questions before choosing to put their loved ones here.

My list of concerns are numerous. I am sorely disappointed in this facility. The facility itself is very nice but the care given is poor. They are understaffed and undertrained. People leaving left and right from the Director , bookkeeper and RA’s. My husband has not received the care he needs and when I talked to the acting director recently , who is an RN, I did not hear an apology but instead was gaslighted. I am not ordinarily a complainer but the care has been less than standard. They are understaffed and undertrained. The best worker they had who had cheer and love for the residents was let go. I am a retired teacher and have a Master’s in counseling and not dumb. I did not appreciate being talked down to and did not receive a hint of an apology.<br>The food is not farm to table and mediocre at best. I have contacted the Ombudsman for this area and intend on contacting the corporate office. If changes are not made on a consistent basis then I will look for other places . It is way too expensive to accept poor service. I realize it is newly opened and there was not much pre planning involved. Keep hoping they will get their act together. I am not the only family member with concerns. We actually try to look after one another’s loved ones. I am thankful for the one or two…one who was let go and the best RA, for the care they have given but there simply is not enough staff and totally unprepared. Thankfully, I live in the area and 10 minutes from the facility. I have spent hours each day there and not had peace of mind at all. I never know what to expect. It should not be that way. Family members talk and share concerns. They overcharged me and I never received a statement until I ask for one. Some people may have unlimited bank accounts, I don’t. The medicine through their supplier costs and my husband’s medicine was 0 before. Obviously Medicare does not recognize their pharmacy.<br>Lots of concerns. Hopefully, they will get their act together or I will have to look elsewhere. Those who are better able to care for themselves are not so vulnerable but those who need the extra attention are.<br>I have to say that Rebecca, a regional manager has always been helpful and listens. She is why I haven’t already moved my husband. Some have. Also Lisa from the Westland Drive facility was helpful. That is where we wanted a placement. She has since retired. I look for the best but have not found that overall. Just being honest.
