Our mother recently was a resident, then unfortunately a patient in skilled nursing at the Mennonite Manor. Her stay in independent living was fine. She was happy and safe. Maintenance helped us many times with different issues and for this we are very grateful. Her stay in skilled nursing was very disappointing, filled with uncaring, non empathetic people. People we feel should not be taking care of the elderly who are scared and only sometimes looking for a smiling face and a little compassion. Nurses aides would not give their names referring to themselves as cartoon characters. We understand acquiring help these days is difficult. We also know that this is not a random instance as your reviews and word of mouth have confirmed what our mother went through. Let us say that not all her caregivers were bad, in fact some were so kind and caring that it made our mothers move bitter sweet. I am happy to report that after our mother moved to a different facility she has done a complete turnaround in her mental and physical well being to the point were she is thriving.
