Excellent observation from staff in needing a new mattress for room 101, Homola to protect and comfort Mother in recovery. Maggie and Eugenia, and the maintenance man that helped in the process of bringing it and changing it over. - the night crew, Aug 2nd, Sunday, received patient with kindness and warm welcome. So impressed with nurses checking in and following protocol. The assistant/cna started caring immediately, was on it with changing her essentials so she felt refreshed. Grateful Yours, Deb ( daughter)

I had fun with my girlfriend who had surgery on Thursday, July 9th on her right arm. She can not do anything; her arm is still sore & swollen. But there was a fun event which included all who wanted to participate. They played tool-the-two-five baseball. The patients were divided into two teams, the Yankees & the Mets. Each patient got a turn to rolll test huge foam dice. When the numbers were added it up, the chart showed what the play w/b. Even though my girlfriend couldn’t feed herself, she still got to roll the dice. The game went on for two & a half inning, one hour, & the Mets won by one run. Yeah a bunch; it was enjoyable. 👍😀

Although the facility is outdated, it is clean and security is great. The lobby is welcoming and offers vending machines for snacks, as well as couches and tables to sit at while visiting. The recreation team is wonderful. One person that truly stands out and has made a difference in my brother's days is wonderful Humeyra. As soon as we met Humeyra she became an important role in my brother's progress. My brother could not speak when he first arrived at Massapequa. He has since started to say words and sometimes even sentences. Humeyra's daily conversations with him in Turkish and English has kick started him to relearn speaking both languages. Humeyra always encourages my brother to join activities. He finally participated in the Orange Blossom Festival, played darts, and had a great time. Seeing my brother happy means the world to us. I want to thank Humeyra and the whole team for their kindness, encouragement, and dedication.

If your reading this, you're probably considering putting a loved one into the Massapequa Nursing care Facility. All I can say is DON'T. The staff is very dismissive, rude and there's no supervision to speak of. I understand to staff a facility such as this must be very challenging and it's a tough job. The folks who work at this facility know this. So they treat the residents terribly since they're not concerned with getting fired. . I'm pretty sure a bunch of these 5 star reviews are made up by them. We are very polite and prescribe to the idea that you get more Flys with honey. The staff could care less. They treat my MIL awful. And she's always nice go everyone. We've had more than one issue with them too. They really are this awful. Keep looking for a better facility. This one is just bad.
