My husband, with Parkinsons and Lewy Body Dementia, has been a resident for 3 months and is thriving. His quality of life is so much better because of the daily garden walks, the great meals, exercise, games, arts and crafts, and brain games. When our grandson asked his grandpa, "How is the food there?" He responded, "It's awesome; you get dessert at every meal." At breakfast, they get fruit, and he calls it dessert. Because he was previously a hiker, he loves the garden area where he gets daily walks with a staff member. When I come to visit each day, he is ready for a second walk outside. I love how he participates in the exercises, the games, arts and crafts, and enjoys a movie now and then. Each week, a singing group or a musician entertains the residents with sing-alongs, and on Thursdays they have a beautiful Spiritual Service. My husband went on several outings in the neighborhood, one being a car show, which he loved. The staff, including office personnel, are so kind, supportive, and caring with each resident. I appreciate that a doctor is visiting two days a week and a nurse is on duty 5 days a week. We are truly blessed that MTM is his home away from home.
