Even though my dad was at Manchester for just a few months, we always felt like we were treated as family by Brian, Sandi and the entire staff. My dad received wonderful care, and I would recommend Manchester to anyone who is looking for a place for their loved one.

I had my mom at the St Michaels house for a little over a year – while there were some good moments, overall, it was a very frustrating and exhausting experience. In my opinion, the management/sales team promises a lot of things but really fail in the delivery. 1 – When we moved in the house it was full of residents – sometimes mom had to wait upwards of an hour for personal needs to be taken care of (she was bedbound) - I had to hire additional caregivers for my mom to ensure her basic needs were being met in a timely manner. 2 – Attention to detail lacking – many times mom would call me because she needed something and her call button was hanging beside the bed nowhere within her reach – so I had to call the house to go and take care of what she needed and to put her call button within reach. I found some staff to be reactive instead of proactive. Many times I would enter the house and find some caregivers sitting in living room on phone yet when I went to mom’s room she needed water or something else. 3 – Med problems – A - there were several times mom got meds that were not part of the current approved list (discontinued, etc) B – there were times mom didn’t get meds that were on her approved plan C – There were times that meds would arrive from the pharmacy but not get entered into the system for a couple of days D – when it came time to use items in the comfort kit they discovered it had expired - I believe that is something that should be routinely checked – we lost several days having to order a new kit and get it entered into the med system. E - after my mom passed, the house failed to notify the pharmacy and accepted a med THREE days after my mom’s passing rather than rejecting the med when it showed up. 4 – shortly after moving in they told me mom could only wear gowns because the pajama pants were “too hard on the caregivers to change” - but even with wearing the gowns there were many times they left the gown bunched up around her waist making mom uncomfortable and causing red places on her skin. 5 – they ruined a piece of mom’s furniture – stripped the finish off by placing something on top of it – and said they could “buff it out” – the finish was gone. 6- the house itself was nice but the floors were filthy – when the youngest great grandkids would visit their clothes and shoes were black from the floor being so dirty. I requested carpet cleanings but it isn’t something they did regularly. There are some incredibly nice and competent people working at the house and some people who don’t really care to be there. If you have a loved one who is very independent, truly needs very little help, and likes a quiet place this might be a good fit for you – but if you have a parent of loved one who needs extra care this house is definitely NOT the right fit in my opinion – even with hiring additional help.

Our family was referred to Manchester Care Homes by a family who had two of their family members live and be taken care of by the Manchester care team. They told me that their experience was magnificent. The care team across the board was compassionate, knowledgeable and caring loving to express just a few words to describe Manchesters team. The caring heart of this organization was obvious from our first introductory meeting through the time we moved in and received their care. I cannot express my gratitude enough as to the care that was provided for our Mom. Thank you to the entire team is my best reference.

Absolutely wonderful!! Two years ago I was looking for a place to help care for my uncle with early dementia. Manchester’s St Michaels care home was the perfect fit. From my earliest meetings with Brian Levy and Sandi Greenberg, we knew they would genuinely care and love our uncle. We were very interested in a small home where he could get to know others and we did ourselves. The caregivers were amazing and kept my uncle engaged. We built a friendship with all of the staff. They kept me very informed on his care and health. What an amazing group!!
