My father resided at the Veterans Home in Scarborough for approximately 10 years. I’ve been in a lot of different nursing homes and this one is by far the most organized, cleanest and least chaotic nursing homes I have been in. They seemed to take exceptional care of my father and I only have good things to say about the staff and facility.

Maine Veterans’ Homes in Scarborough follows a traditional medical model, but it’s far from impersonal. The community is well connected with families, and there’s a clear emphasis on creating opportunities for socialization alongside clinical care. For eligible veterans and their spouses, it offers a solid and respectful option in Southern Maine.

The Veterans’ Home in Scarborough has been absolutely amazing. When it came time to start looking for care facilities for my father, this was our first choice for many reasons. The waitlist was long, but it was absolutely worth it. One came available at just the right time when my father’s needs were becoming more than what I could take care of myself. From the very first day, I knew that we had found the perfect place. Navigating all the aspects of care for my father was often confusing and overwhelming, but they took that off my plate. They care for him as if he was their own family member and I never have to worry about him when I’m not there. They are welcoming and kind - from the women at the front desk to the nurses and CNAs, everyone has always greeted me with a smile. They work very hard to ensure the residents are getting the very best and they genuinely seem to love what they do. I could never put quite into words how thankful I have been for the Veterans’ Home and I will never not recommend them to anyone looking for a care facility for their loved one.
