My mother had a stroke on 12 September 2024. She was moved from Mercy hospital to Mercy rehab hospital and then two weeks later she was discharged to skilled nursing at Meramec Bluffs. I live out of state. I returned home for the two weeks she was there and then returned to St Louis on 14 October. I was in contact with my mother’s social worker upon my return. She was due to be discharged 16 October, and since I hadn’t yet found assisted living for her I asked that my mom remain at MB in a self pay capacity. I made it clear that she wouldn’t be there long; max 2 weeks. The social worker agreed, but demanded that I pay a full month’s amount to the tune of $11,400! When I asked for flexibility with this, I was informed that it was policy and there was no wiggle room. I was forced to write a check for the full amount (My mother stayed FOUR EXTRA DAYS TOTAL and I have yet to receive a refund from them for the remaining balance. The social worker told me it could take up to two months to receive a refund!) Also, in the course of those four days my mother received NO continued therapies (PT, OT or speech). On discharge day, the social worker went on vacation and left things to the nursing staff which was in disarray. The discharge instructions and medicine was haphazard and vague. We had no idea what to do for her or what meds to give her. We were told that we had to see her primary care doctor about medicines. Finally, MB assigned PT, OT and speech therapists to provide in home care. They do not provide a schedule for the week, but rather haphazardly contact me either the day of or late the night before to schedule therapies. This makes any planning impossible. This experience has been nightmarish. I would highly recommend to avoid this place. Do NOT take your loved one to MB!!

My mother has lived here for over a decade having moved in when my father lost his eyesight and could no longer drive. They both loved the strong sense of faith and community they found here. They made many, many friends. After my father passed away several years later, it was a blessing to have mom at Meramec Bluffs surrounded by those established friends. She feels very safe and secure there, loves the food, and has plenty of activities to join in should she choose to do so. It's really a beautiful campus too and the staff is superb. I've never encountered anyone who isn't caring and helpful.

We had such a great experience at Meramec Bluffs. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating. My 102-year-old mom was living at home with a lot of in-home care, and we hoped we would be able to keep that up. Unfortunately, she had a fall and had to be taken to the hospital. We had to scramble to find a nursing home that would take my mom, most were full to capacity. Meramec Bluffs made room for her. While she was there, she was treated so kindly, compassionately and respectfully, and we were very happy with the level of care she received. Our family was also treated with the same regard. The staff went out of their way for us on several occasions. The facility itself it beautiful! It is clean and very well maintained, and we felt very good about leaving my mom's care in their hands. I do not hesitate to recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a home for their loved one. If I could rate 10 stars, I would! Thank you Meramec Bluffs!!!

I have lived here for nearly 7 1/2 years. I was not thrilled to be giving up our home but was urged by my husband that we make the move. So happy we did. This is a very caring community by both the staff and the residents. Through the pandemic we were cared for with love and very much help that has kept us safe and now we again are experiencing the joy of living more normally. i look out over beautiful trees and flowers, have a lovely balcony to view the changing seasons. One has the choice of many things to do and enjoy or to have the privacy that is important to me. The aging process is one we all experience. Meramec Bluffs allows one to do it in an atmosphere that is gracious and fulfilling. My husband died nearly 4 years ago and I am so grateful that I live here now. It was our home together,, and now it is my home today for which I am very thankful.
