Five Star Team! Don't judge this community by the older building. It's modern on the inside! My unexpected stay at Aegis in Wildwood was a surprisingly good experience. The facilty is nicely renovated, very clean with a dedicated team that makes patient care the priority. Even the maintainence man jumped in to help me with anything I needed. They have a very strong rehab team dedicated to excellence. I couldn't believe how much I improved in 5 weeks! The rehab center has all the necessary equipment to help everyone succeed. The staff was compassionate, encouraging and dedicated to top qualify care. The management team is involved on a daily basis. I may need to go inpatient again soon. Aegis is my choice and should be yours, too!

My stepfather was transferred to Aegis Health and Rehabilitation after several falls and a hospital stay. He needed rehabilitation because he was not yet well enough to return home. Aegis also provides long-term care, which he will likely need in the future. While the facility does not offer memory care, he is not considered what they call an “elopement risk.” Over the past six weeks, he has acclimated well and genuinely enjoys his therapy sessions and interactions with the staff and other residents, many of whom I’ve come to know through my visits. Before choosing Aegis, I visited at least a dozen skilled nursing facilities from a list provided by the hospital. I evaluated them based on staffing levels, cleanliness, amenities, location, Medicare.gov and U.S. News rankings, and Google reviews. Initially, Aegis was not at the top of my list. It seemed smaller, somewhat chaotic, and a bit rundown. However, it was nearby and able to accept him quickly. I’ve since discovered that a small, lively atmosphere may be preferable to a large, strangely quiet one. Like every long-term care facility, Aegis is expensive. My mother and stepfather are firmly middle class — not poor, but without unlimited resources. Like many families, we are trying to balance quality care with protecting their financial stability and preserving the home and life they worked hard to build. In hindsight, some of the more highly rated and more expensive facilities would not have been the right fit for our situation. Aegis excels in the area that matters most: staffing. The people there genuinely care about the residents, their families, and the work they do. They are compassionate, attentive, and responsive. I’ve had positive interactions with everyone I’ve encountered. Staff members listen carefully to concerns and questions, provide helpful information, and take appropriate actions when needed. The nursing and medical staff consistently treat residents with dignity and respect and respond quickly when assistance is needed. The rehabilitation team finds creative and engaging ways to provide therapy. The social workers help families navigate difficult processes and connect them with valuable resources. The maintenance, housekeeping and kitchen staff work hard to keep the facility clean, functional, and comfortable despite the constant demands of the environment. Administrators and business office staff have also been willing to answer questions and explain operational and financial matters when appropriate. I do hope the company that owns the facility will invest more in the property and resident experience. Improvements to landscaping, furnishings, activity spaces, and equipment storage would significantly enhance the environment for residents, staff, and visitors alike. The facility would also benefit from expanding the number and variety of resident activities and recruiting more volunteers to engage with residents. Thoughtful investment in both staff and infrastructure would strengthen what is already a caring and dedicated community.

This place isn’t very professional. Floors don’t look like they are mopped. They are disrespectful to the patients. They feed them food like eggs with no meat. They don’t make sure patients are showered. Not sure how state hasn’t did anything about the conditions. Hope they start doing their jobs. Every hall should have a cameras in the hallways so workers are watched.

Our loved one went to the community for short term rehab but has stayed. While the community is old and lacking aesthetically, the staff have been very kind, caring and respectful. Our loved one says the P.A." has the best bedside manner." "He listens and treats me with dignity". The social worker, Director of Nursing, aides and med techs have all been helpful. The dining room has been accommodating when our loved one didn't like the food on the menu. His room is neat and clean. He is treated as a person with a "story" rather than just a patient.
