The Lutheran Home and Elaine's Hope in Wauwatosa WI fortunately have been our parents home away from home! Our dad, Roman, lived in Skilled Nursing 3N for 2 years and peacefully passed away March 3, 2024. Our mother, Ruth, lived in Elaine's Hope Memory Care, Ravenswood, for 4 years and peacefully passed away June 4, 2026. As a family, we can honestly say that both our parents were treated with top-notch professional care, sincere compassion, dignity, respect, and love at all times! For a large institutional hospital, the Lutheran Home and Elaine's Hope Memory Care consistently exceeded our expectations providing exceptional care in a loving and caring environment. Our family expresses our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the outstanding care you provided to our parents. Although I'm a Devout Lutheran; I am shocked & deeply distressed to share that my personal observation & detailed experience regarding the in-house 'lack of appropriate care' for basic referral Rehab Services of my "Beloved Mother" was well-below par!<br>My claim of total & complete inadequate care can be substantiated by an array of photos, video tracking and subsequent demand calls for an Administrative Consultation Meeting of Staff, after numerous voices concerns regarding her stay went unaddressed in a timely fashion. Ultimately; the sub-standard (POC) "Plan Of Care" eventually attributed to her ambulatory return & re-entry back into a hospital facility where she progressed to ICU and her unexpected Death!<br>My family and I are DEVASTATED!!<br>Unfortunately; I am saddened to say......<br>based on my 1st hand, direct knowledge I encountered as my Mother's Caregiver, overseeing her status, I would NEVER again suggest, recommend, advise nor promote this facility!!!<br><br>REPLY TO OWNER'S RESPONSE......<br>After reading the Owner's response to my post; I'm compelled to reply to the message for us to discuss my opinion. I stand firm in saying:<br>WHY SHOULD WE TALK NOW; WHAT CARE CAN YOU OFFER MY MOTHER NOW? MY MOTHER IS DEAD BECAUSE OF THE EXTREMELY POOR TREATMENT SHE WAS SUBJECTED TO!<br>"TOO LITTLE; TOO LATE!!!!"<br>ALL THE FLUFFY WORDS TO TRY TO SUGAR-COAT THE FACTS IN HER MED RECORDS SPEAK FOR THEMSELELF. BUT; IF YOU KEEP RECORDS LIKE YOU DID HER TREATMENT, THEY ARE PROBABLY DEFICIENT, AS WELL. TO TALK AFTER HER UNTIMELY DEATH, DOES NOT HEAL OUR WOUNDS, NOW. IT TOOK NUMEROUS CALLS & VARIOUS REPEATED DISCUSSIONS WITH THE ADMIN OFFICE OF CRIES FOR HELP LEFT ON YOUR VM, A VARIETY OF CONVERSATIONS WITH REHAB & NURSING PROFESSIONALS. ULTIMATELY, MY FIRM DEMAND FOR A FULL FAMILY SIT-DOWN WITH YOUR ENTIRE FACILITY PERSONNEL INVOLVED IN HER CARE, IN AN EFFORT TO TRY TO GET THE ASSIGNED SUPPORT FROM THE REHAB DIRECTOR, OCCURED FOLLOWING MY FRANTIC DISCUSSIONS WITH THE CHARGE RN, AND OTHER STAFF; ONLY TO WITNESS THEM ARGUING AMONGST THEMSELVES, IN FRONT OF MY MOTHER & ME, ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT THEY COULD, CAN, SHOULD OR WOULD ASSIST IN HER ("POC") BECAUSE, AS THEY STAYED, SHE WAS NOT ASSIGNED TO THE APPROPRIATE WING FOR REHAB CARE! SUBSEQUENTLY; SHE LAID ON AN UNSAFE BED UNTIL I DEMANDED THE APPROPRIATE MATTRESS. TO ENSURE PROPER CARE; I WAS OBLIGATED TO BE PRESENT AND PROVIDE CARE FOR HER 8a-8p BECAUSE SHE WAS NOT ON THE STAFF'S RADAR. MOM LAID IN BED WITHOUT MOBILITY TRANSFER, UNGROOMED, UNFED, UNCARED FOR, DAILY. EVEN THE FOOD SERVICE STAFF CAME LATE WITH HER MEALS & STORMED OUT OF HER ROOM UPSET, COMPLAINING ABOUT HER/THEIR OVERLOAD OF RESPONSIBILITIES OF DELIVERING HER FOOD TRAYS WHEN I REQUESTED APPROPRIATE SERVING AND/OR MOBILITY ASSIST TO THE CAFETERIA TIMELY FOR NUTRITION! DELAY OF APPROPRIATE & TIMELY REQUIRED CARE FACILITATED HER DEMISE!!! MOM'S SURPRISE DEATH IS/WAS AN UNEXPECTED, IRREVERSIBLE AND AVOIDABLE LIFE-CHANGING TRAGEDY. SO; AN OFFER OF SIMPLE CONVERSATION 'AFTER-THE-FACT' IS A CLEAR EXPRESSION OF JUST HOW DISRESPECTFUL, OFFENSIVE & SELF-SERVING YOUR FACILITY IS TO TRY TO SALVAGE A FUTILE ATTEMPT TO 'SAVE FACE'. YOUR 'AFTER-DEATH' OFFER TO DISCUSS EXPOSES AND VERIFIES JUST HOW INSENSITIVE, UNSYMPATHETIC AND 'OUT OF TOUCH' YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF CRITICAL CARE AND PROVIDING IMMEDIATE FAMILY CARE RESPONSE NEEDS IS IMPACTFUL. YOUR LACK OF APPROPRIATE & TIMELY 'QUALITY CARE' OF A LOVED ONE DRAMATICALLY IMPACTS GRAVE & LIFE-ALTERING TRAGEDY UPON THE PATIENT AND FAMILY SURVIVORS. THIS IS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF DISASSOCIATION YOUR FACILITY DISPLAYS IN THE FAMILY DYNAMIC WITHIN THE MEDICAL FIELD. YOUR ONLY PRIMARY CONCERN NOW, IS TO AVOID AN HONEST, NEGATIVE REVIEW BEING SHARED WITH OTHERS, CAUSE THE FACTS WITHIN MY BELOVED MOTHER'S MEDICAL RECORDS THAT YOU HAVE EVEN FAILED TO READ & DISPUTE CANNOT BE DENIED!!!!!!!

While the Luthren home is exceptional we were there for ACCESScare hospice. I will only say don't believe everything you're told and please find another hospice facility. Or at least get a tour of the hospice part of the facility. You owe your loved one that much.
