Our grandmother stayed at The Lutheran Home for about four months following her stroke. She has since passed away, but we wanted to recognize the care she received during her time there.

Before choosing The Lutheran Home, I personally toured nearly 30 nursing homes to find the best fit for my grandmother. Overall, The Lutheran Home stood out as one of the cleanest, most well-maintained facilities we visited, and that gave our family a great deal of comfort.

Two nurses in particular, Chinnu and Vahleria, made a lasting impression on our family. They treated our grandmother with genuine kindness, compassion, and dignity. It truly felt like they cared for her the way they would care for their own grandparents, and we will always be grateful for the love and attention they showed her.

Overall, our grandmother was kept clean, comfortable, and safe. There were a few medical situations that required hospitalization, and the staff recognized the issues quickly so she could receive the care she needed. We appreciated their attentiveness during those moments.

That said, there were a few areas where our experience did not match the expectations that were set before admission. During the admissions process, we were told we would be able to use cameras to help us monitor and communicate with our grandmother, and that there would primarily be female caregivers assigned to her. Unfortunately, neither of those promises consistently came to fruition, particularly during evenings, weekends, and holidays when unfamiliar staff members were often covering. While we understand that staffing challenges happen, we would have appreciated more realistic expectations from the beginning rather than promises that ultimately could not be fulfilled. This has nothing to do with the care team, but more so the sales team.

We also hoped the rehabilitation team would be able to push our grandmother a bit more. We were told fairly early on that, at 98 years old, she would not be able to participate meaningfully in rehabilitation. While we understand that age presents challenges, longevity runs in our family, and we believed she deserved every opportunity to maximize her recovery before those conclusions were reached.

Our family visited every single day during the four months she lived there. We were very involved in her care because we wanted to ensure she was comfortable and well looked after. It was an exhausting journey, but one we would gladly do again for someone we love so dearly. The care team did a great job overall. We are thankful for that.

Overall, we are grateful to The Lutheran Home and especially to caregivers like Chinnu and Vahleria, whose compassion made a difficult chapter a little easier. We hope our feedback helps future families and encourages continued improvements for the residents who call The Lutheran Home home.

I went here to visit my Aunt. She seemed really happy here and even got to do a little gardening, and play the organ. There's a snack shop too that she can order from if she has company. Everyone there seemed committed to the residents and their families

My entire stay at Lutheran Home (My/Rehab) was outstanding! From the nurses (the best), CNA's, doctor (Dr. Dada) to all the wonderful therapists (both PT and OT)! All contributed to making my stay feel warm and welcoming yet very productive toward my recovery! I was pleasantly surprised about the food! Quite good and varied! Plus if you don't like what's on the menu for a particular day there is a regular menu you can order from! There are so many people who made my stay so pleasant and I wished I could mention each one! THANK YOU to everyone from patient in 1316!
